This may be old news to some, but Atlantis finally got released on Friday and it was pretty darn good. I wasn't quite sure what to make of it while watching it. It wasn't laugh out loud funny all the way, but there are some memorable characters. It was going towards a dark atmosphere, but didn't quite manage to maintain that (it had to be a happy ending). Still, the animation was great, the music was fantastic, story was alright.

Surprisingly, we get Disney characters chain-smoking, lots of people biting the dust and sex-appeal. One unintentionally hilarious moment was when a father in a row behind us, who took his 3 kids with him, went "phowar!" during the first scene with Helga. :) The poor Kids didn't have a clue.

I saw this last...Sunday I think and I too thought it was good. A bit different to other Disney films with it's more sci-fi/fantasy style but still looked and felt like a Disney film. The characters were great, especially the mole type person, when he laughed in the pot in the end I just cracked up for some reason :)
Go see it, tis very good :)

*Who was Helga? Was she the main jungle type girl? She may be hot but she'll never compare to Jane from Tarzan :D*

Bit disappointed by this. The characters didn't grab my attention, and there was no sense of danger or something, I can't put my finger on it. Basically it had no affect on me. I didn't feel carried along by the story as I normally would with a good Disney film. The animation style is similar to Emperor's New Groove, but I found it was too outlandish, too out there to suspend any disbelief. The story wasn't very good. There's usally something in there for adults but I thought this was purely aimed at pre-pubescent boys more than anything. Not for me on DVD.

Probably slightly better than Titan A.E. but nowhere near as good as Shrek, The Iron Giant or Beauty and the Beast. 6/10.
