Watching the video for No Doubts "Bathwater" on the box.
It's a new dance remix and it's awful. The original works well as a bouncy ska(ish) number .This will get them no more fans. Why are they bothering?

Would this be the one I saw over the w/e on 'The Hits' ? Mostly live performance footage with Gwen looking rather :norty: ?

Somebody towel that woman down ! (I rather liked it !)

AFAIK they're not. Is this a single? It's not on "Boom Box" or the Greatest Hits album.

They showed it on Popworld yesterday and said it was the new single.
I'm a huge ND fan but I think it's awful!

I thought 'It's My Life' the cover of the Talk Talk classic was going to be the next single. Great tune!!

It was already released as a single in December.

and sunk without a trace. I thought it was coming out in January. hmm

Didn't really notice Bathwater until I d/l the video and I actually was pleasantly surprised, quite a funky little vid. AFAIK the dance remix isn't on the singles album. I think it did better in the US but they didn't want to re-release it here and this must be the next best thing

Not according to the radio1 charts. I don't think it made the top20 even

Strangely non chart eligible.

Too many tracks?

mikegray

Yup. Too many tracks to be eligible. I know remixes have different rules, but they have to be of the main track, I believe.

Couldn't it go in the album charts then?

I don't *think* so. You don't tend to see EPs in the album charts even if they sell well. However, I know for a fact that record companies hire people just to deal with the chart regulations, so I can't be sure!

It's just strange you can't sell something that won't go in any charts, it should be a short album or a long single. Is that the only version though? Maybe there's 3 versions or something

They relaxed the rules recently. You can have up to six "tracks" on a single, but they have to be of the main A side. But, I think you CAN have say

Track 1
Track 2
Track 3 (Remix of 1)
Track 4 (Remix of 1)
Track 5 (Remix of 1)
Video of 1

That's eligible now I think. The Ferry Corsten single is like that, for example.
