Dunno if this should go in the region comparisons slot, but anyway:

I own the original dts releases of Jurassic 1 & 2, and wonder how they compare to the expensive Superbit versions. Is there a web site that has reviewed them? Or does anyone have first hand experience?

The Superbits are now quite hard to come by. A few sites are showing them as OOP now.

The DVD Beaver site does say that they are only OOP temporarily though.

If those screen captures are accurate there would appear to be a noticeable increase in PQ on the superbit... I may have to bite the bullet and fork out for one.

the PQ on both look a bit rough :gag:

actually im roasting to see Jurassic Park again, def wont splash out for the Japanese disc.

even though its not as good, is the R1 DTS still worth getting ? and does it have DD5.1 ?

The DTS track for JP on the R1 is highly impressive.

And the cover just says that it has dolby surround as an alternate track.

it seriously looks pants on those screenshots, even on the SB.

All three JP's are stunning PQ wise. Amongst the best DVD's I have.

I've got the re-release R1 dts; anyone tried theirs to make sure it's the corrected version?

Thanks, Marv -the corrected version of JP dts has a red technical grid on the back of the box(Tells you what the run time, aspect ratio is etc), you can also tell by sticking the dvd in you dvd rom drive and checking that the VOb files are dated November 2001.[/url] The version I got yesterday from DVD Soon has a gold info panel and the VOb files are dated July 2000. Amazing! It has the earlier number (D2R1) on the hub as well.

I've just checked my JP DTS- it has red technical info on the box but the VOBs are dated July 2000

EDIT: No it hasn't, it has red features list  Can you send this back to Universal for a replacement? :)

EDIT2: AFter reading that other thread it seems not. Ah well!
