Just seen this on a HK VCD it was recommended to me by some HK friends. This film completely passed me by and I think its worth a mention for being very Italian (although I have not seen a lot of Italian films) in style although it is an english language film.

Giuseppe Tornatore style is very much intact and the film is as likeable as Cinema Paradiso. The score is by the one and only Ennio Morricone and the film is worth watching for that alone.

Not brilliant but its different from what is normally discussed in these forums and worth checking out.

I seem to recall the Italian DVD edition is the best available, and was undecided as to whether to buy the disc due to price. May take another look.

I picked this up a while back in HMV for a bargaintastic 2.99.

Whilst I have no complaints since I paid so little, I wasn't that wild about it. Certainly I didn't enjoy it as much as Cinema Paradiso.

It's certainly an unusual film, and annoyingly I really can't put my finger on why it didn't engage me as much as it should have. I suspect I wasn't really in the right mood for it at the time.

I'll definitely be keeping the DVD though, if only to watch the playing during the storm scene again and again.
