I'm looking to replace my aging Wharfedale 750 in the next week or so and I'm looking for a decent new player.

I can afford up to £400 (ish). I've heard good things about the Marantz DV4100OSE but I can't find any online reviews (anyone know of any).

What are peoples opinions of the Marantz or, if you think I should go for something else, what would you suggest.

Thanks in advance.

The Marantz is certainly a well-rated player - and What Hi-Fi seems to have installed it as flavour of the month. Interestingly Hi-Fi Choice (who I feel are more demanding and objective) don't rate it that highly for CD play, the exact reason why WHF love it so much - which shows nothing more than the importance of demoing for yourself I guess.

If you want a player to double as a CD player as well, then it is certainly worth a listen. But if you've a dedicated CD deck £400 might be more than you need to spend. The Pioneer DV444 and DV545 are getting good reviews and look the business. The Marantz is that well-featured for a DVD deck, but does seem at least as good for AV as others in it's price range.
