Please read - important ruling that will affect us CD consumers

The BPI recently ruled that CD prices on the Internet must be raised by around £2 each, as they were being obtained through non-EU sources. This is unfair and will cause us consumers to be ripped off even more when it comes to buying music off the Internet.

Please take 2 minutes to sign this petition on a website, which shall be passed onto the BPI and hopefully - if we get enough signatures - they will rethink their bad decision.

I don't think you've got this right.
What they've done is force CDwow to supply only EU sourced discs to UK consumers.
The £2 thing would seem to be CDwow's way of dealing with the price hike.

cdwow dont have to use UK sourced discs, they can do what supermarkets do and get them from other EU countries where they are cheaper.

The ruling isnt really BPI's fault, it's actually a EU law against grey imports of any goods. cd-wow were breaking this law.

If you really want to change things you should be petitioning the EU to get the law changed.

They want music piracy to stop, so they increase the price of CDs...

So I now have a very difficult choice:

Buy a CD at £15+

or

Download as many as I want for the price of a monthly internet connection

I think I know which one Im going for...

May I say well done to the music industry for making my decision so much easier! :nuts: :razz:

There are plenty of other places you can purchase CDs from without having to pay £15+
