Hi all,

Is Sega's OUTRUN2 still coming out on the xbox ?

I have read mixed reviews regarding this fact.

Anyway, just found a multimedia collection of new OUTRUN2 stuff here :-

http://www.sega-am2.co.jp/jp/download/outrun2.html

Here you will found 2003 reworkings of classic Outrun tunes, such as :-

Passing Breeze
Magical Sound Shower
Splashwave
(+ 4 new ones!) - all free to download in MP3 format :)

They also have wallpapers, and a movie to dload :)

Cheers

fred

I wouldnt ever listen to Amazon when it comes to release dates, if they hear a game is coming out they stick it on there site without getting any conformation whats so ever! :searchme:

Just listened to the revised 'Magical Sound Shower' track for Outrun 2. They've got rid of those wonderful steel drums and put some sleazy jazz saxaphone on in their place. Me not happy. :( However, the new 'Spash Wave' track gets thumbs up - love the guitar work. :)

Nothing's been announced officially - although it would be a crying shame if Sega didn't push this one.

played this several times in las vegas a couple of weeks ago and it's absolutely superb. looks and plays the way you think you remember the original doing so. i too was mortified with what was done to magical sound shower, but i guess you can't win them all.

hope it's true that this is back on track for the xbox, as wasn't it originally considered that it would be arcade-perfect?

Yup - the arcade machine runs off the Chihiro board, which is practically an XBox insides.

any more words on the grapevine about this ??

haven't heard so much as a whisper. in fact, i don't think there's ever been any official word on this. it was an educated guess at best, based on the hardware similarities and the fact that the xbox is the only console capable of running a flawless, arcade-perfect port.

we just have to wait and hope. :)

I hope this is true!

However, I've still got an old Sega Saturn with OutRun which is virtually Arcade Perfect, which I still play from time to time!

For those that like the nostalga, the original music files are available here (http://www.cimarron.plus.com/outrun)

Cheers

woo-hoo! excellent news. cheers for that mate.

slightly surprised by the comment "it hasn't fared so badly in the transfer from the arcade version", as i thought we were expecting it to be identical because of the hardware?

Is it just me or do those screens look a bit dump?

Ben Martin

that's what i was thinking. i recall being pretty blown away by the graphics on the arcade version back in january whereas those remind me of viewing the sega master system version of the original 'out run'. okay, a bit harsh, but there was that same element of let down.
