As nice as I am I have just bought a Samsung 709 for my parents so I can watch dvd's when i go round to their house. The only reason I bought this is, it appeared to be the only one in my local retailer that was hackable via the remote, but...........no dice, the hack does not appear work. It's the one where you press the repeat button and type 38767, you know the one. I have resetted the player to the factory settings and tried countless amount of times and it's driving me insane. So, does anyone have a clue as to why it doesn't work, or another way of hacking it without shelling out any more money. Naganooch!
Have you checked out www.709online.com

What shop is still selling Samsung 709 player anyway? It is now obsolete by two models (I own one myself - a damn fine machine if you ask me - only had probs with T2: UE freezing on me)

Hi DonVito,
Just a little enquiry as to how much you paid for your samsung as I have just rang T. E. Roberts about getting a Samsung mail ordered to me and want to see if what they quoted me is a fair price.
Regards
Tony

I paid £179 for it. It was on sale from £249 as it was when it originally come out, down to £199, and then down to £179. I think they would probably charge about £10 for delivery, so I think about the £190 area would have been a decent enough quote.

I paid that for mine brand new 18 months ago!! For that, probably with some change left over, you could get a Samsung 511 that the hack definately works on.
I cant see why the hack doesn't work on yours unless the very late firmware won't accept it:confused:
