There was a thread on here a while back, where the inclusion of the "c" word in the PG rated Amadeus Director's cut was discussed.

Amadeus was withdrawn from sale here in the UK briefly, this happened very soon after it was first released. It was then subsequently re-released without an explanation as to why WB pulled it in the first place. I was wondering if it was pulled so that the "offending" word could be taken out?

Essentially what I'm asking is does the "c" word feature in the (uncut) director's cut of Amadeus and has our version been cut?

It was passed PG uncut, while the US version was rated R; I thought that this was simply due to full frontal female nudity...

Nothing on Melon farmers or BBFc about it being cut.

Any idea where it might occur? (I don't have time to sit through the whole film to check it out) I don't remember hearing it when I watched it, but I wasn't really looking out for it...

It is during the scene where Simon Callow (Emanuel Schikaneder) confronts Amadeus about the missing music for 'The Magic Flute'. Can't remember the exact quote but it is just after Amadeus says that the music is 'up in his noodle'!!!

This secne is in the last third of the movie whilst Amadeus is playing with his billiard balls and writing part of the requiem.

It is virtually inaudible and if you turn on the 1st set of subtitles it is not shown. However the second set of subtitles clearly shows the offending word.

Chorlton what version of Amadeus do you have? Is it the UK R2 version that you have? When did you get it?

Assuming Chorlton has the UK R2 version, I wonder if the reason the word is inaudible is because of BBFC censorship?

Perhaps somebody with the R1 DVD could check their disc to see if the word is audible on the R1 version?

I have the 2 disc R2 Special Edition (Directors Cut).

I don't think that the BBFC has censored this word. If they have, it is very subtle (it is not 'bleeped' and there is no sound drop-out). The actor virtually spits the word itself out in the scene and so it may have been missed. As mentioned the word definately appears in one of the sets of subtitles which should also be classified by the BBFC.

Sounds like the BBFC have either missed it or left it in as it is virtually inaudible.
