I can't see any cuts listed at the BBFCs website, so it looks like it will be uncut.

www.bbfc.co.uk if you want to have a look.

It's uncut if you mean the cinema version, but the Dir's cut is much more violent and this is NOT the Dir's Cut

WHAT?! Not the DC?! - Are those scenes covered in the 30 min. Deleted Scenes/Alternate ending extras? I think they will, so IMO this will be better than just the DC... It looks great in terms of extras too (Stone commentary!!!) so I'll buy it whatever...:D

No there's about 3 mins or 150 cuts put back into the movie (it was edited for the US cinema version)
Can you not buy the R1/ 4 version?

(Details from MelonFarmers site)

Many short cuts were made by the US ratings board to achieve an R rated theatrical release. The BBFC passed this pre-cut version for both cinema and video without further cuts. The original is available from the US as an unrated directors cut and has additional scenes as follows:

Pre-credits murder scene in the diner features additional footage (Mallory smashing a guy's head on the floor; more graphic footage in the knife throwing death scene);
The death of Mallory's father is slightly extended with more graphic footage;
Mickey is briefly seen raping the bound hostage in the motel room
Jack Scagnetti's murder of the prostitute is longer and more explicit.
The clerk at the Drug Zone pharmacy is watching a program on Mickey and Mallory on TV that features a dramatized massacre in an indian jewelry and craft store;
The beating of Mickey and Mallory after he's surrendered outside the Drug Zone is longer and more violent (the scene is shot mimicking the Rodney King videotape);
The prison riot sequences are longer and include additional scenes showing a cop being shoved into a washing machine and killed, a con's head boiled in a large pot, another cop dragged on a table and shoved into an oven, a cop thrown and hanged from a balcony and cons cutting other cons' throats in the prison's barber shop.
After hitting the guard (Vince Pruitt Taylor) in the face with the butt of a shotgun, Mickey convinces him to bring him to Mallory's cell by breaking his fingers;
Jack Scagnetti's agony after being stabbed in the throat by Mallory is longer;
The warden's (Tommy Lee Jones) death scene at the hand of the prisoners is more explicit. The prisoners are seen waving his dismembered body parts and his head on a spear;
After Mallory has shot Wayne Gale's hand, there are a few frames showing the warden and the guards seen through the bleeding hole

The BBFC have never cut <I>Natural Born Killers</I>...

...but as far as I can see they've never been asked to pass anything other than the R-rated version. The running times on their site suggest the director's cut has never been submitted.

The only version of NBK to have ever been distributed or broadcasted in the UK is the cinema version. All the extras on that new disk are on the DC anyway. Shame cos the box looks quite nice!

There is also a Danish R2 version from a company called DVDoo (http://www.dvdoo.dk) if your DVD player is R2 only.

I haven't seen that or the R1 disc. But I'd go for the region 4 DVD release which I have. It's the uncut director's cut, anamorphic PAL, and has all the extras on the disc that the region 2 will have.

And it's cheap too - only £10-£12 all in if you order from EzyDVD (http://www.ezydvd.com.au).

But does it have the original screenplay by QT - in a LE cover -? Really I want the R2 so can someone answer my question whether the DC's additional footage is on the DVD as RichB didn't make it too clear...

Sorry for being a pain, Matt :(

Hey!?
How much clearer could I have got?

It's uncut if you mean the cinema version, but the Dir's cut is much more violent and this is NOT the Dir's Cut

So to clear that up
The R2 version is NOT the Dir's Cut, so no those scenes are not back in the film like they are on the R1/4 disc which IS the Dir;s Cut! :D

You say there are 3 minutes reistated in the directors cut - that is less than 30 minutes. You didn't tell me if those 3 mins. are in the deleted scenes. THAT IS ALL I WANT TO KNOW! Do you understand: "...or do I have to write it in crayon for you, like usual?!":D

i know richb and you will have to right it in crayon for him, as he is a bit slow this days.

The three minutes of cuts are only in the Trimark R1 and R4 releases. They are inserted into the film.

The three minutes of cuts aren't in the deleted scenes. They are extra scenes. So, in the R2, you will get the same extras as the R4 - but it won't be the director's cut.

I would go for the Swedish/Danish NBK Directors Cut which is available from www.discshop.se

Features:
Director's Cut (approx. 3 mins. put back, which are NOT in the UK DVD/theatrical version)
R2 region coding
Director's COmmentary
30 mins. of deleted scenes with introduction by Stone
Documentary
Alternate ending
Anamorphic Widescreen presentation

And the best thing: it only costs about 9 quid.

I would recommend the Australian disc anyway. It's definitely in English, with English menus. If you really need subtitles, get the R1 disc.

The R4 is £10-£12 delivered.

Yes, if you want R2 coding, get that. I almost forgot that everyone doesn't have a multiregion player!

The Swedish version is identical to the R4 Australian. It has beautiful animated menus, English DD 5.1, anamorphic WIdescreen (the R1 US is only letterboxed).
Subs are in Swedish, Norwegian, Danish and FInnish and can be switched off. Definitely a great disc.

Do you have to go through a subtitle menu first though?

The new UK disc will be anamorphic I think, but it won't be the director's cut. Avoid.

The region 4 version also has animated menus, but they tend to get on my nerves.

No subtitles menu on start-up. You can choose the subs in the main menu and of course also watch the movie without subs.

'NBK - Directors Cut' is on Film Four next month along with 'Evil Dead - Directors Cut' (?) - which is presumambly just the uncut version.

M@dmatt, don't have a go at Rich B. He made it perfectly clear.

Are those scenes covered in the 30 min. Deleted Scenes/Alternate ending extras?

No

If you can't understand that then you must be from another planet.
And aren't you the 12 year old kid from the R2 project forums? Therefore you shouldn't be watching this film cut or uncut!
