Just had my phone upgrade on Orange and found out an interesting fact from the lady at disconnections. Here's the story:

Phoned up Monday morning ( as was just out of contract, having been with orange for 5 years ), to see about an upgrade from my aging T68i. Spoke to an upgrades representative, who told me that my new phone of choice - The Handspring Treo 600 - would cost me £119, the same price that you can walk into an Orange high street shop and buy it for. I asked about my loyalty and he said it didn't matter. Needless to say I was pretty annoyed.

After a bad day at work I called Orange again to asked to be disconnected and to have the code to port my number to another network. They put me through to disconnections, and then my phone dropped the call. Now very annoyed I decided to sit back and sort it out another day.... However my phone rang and disconnections had called me back, to sort out a deal. They basically offered to match any normal (not 3G) phone tariff, and give me whatever phone I wanted for free.

Apparently if your average bill is over £60 they will give you ANY phone available on Orange for free!!! In addition to this for their poor service they threw in an extra 50 pounds worth of call credit to compensate. Was very pleased with it - Just shows that Orange do have this policy, you just need to speak to the right person
