View Full Version : Seagals Belly of the Beast
I had pretty much judged the outcome of this movie before I began to watch it ... but I was wrong! :)
It's Seagals best movie since Exit Wounds, which isn't saying much because his last few releases have been dire. I think its an Eastern production because the majority of the cast are Asian, this may explain the step-up from his last few releases.
If you have given up on Seagal this movie is somewhat of a return-to-form.

Just received it this morning. Your comments give me hope as I too really enjoyed Exit Wounds. Belly of the Beast is directed by Ching Siu Tung aka Tony Ching (A Chinese Ghost Story). He's made loads of films in Hong Kong and is also a great action choreographer (with wirework being a speciality).
I watched Belly Of The Beast and thought it was awful but the kind of film that was so awful I enjoyed it :D
The acting is beyond dire, just terrible, but some of the action scenes were fun and well made. It was funny though watching Seagal swagger around looking like somebody just out of the pub for the entire film
Seagal was dull in it, he looks in desperate need of Prozac. He doesnt even try to act anymore, just look at the beginning when he learns his daughter was kidnapped, his expression doesnt change. Whilst I said it was good, he's still fat and looking suicidal.
My dad is watching it at the moment and I overheard him saying "its about time you gave up Seagal" so I think he's unimpressed. :| ... also whats with the car on the dvd cover? was there a blink and you'll miss it car chase??
dont let me put you off though, watching him slice an arrow down the middle with a sword makes it worth a rent!
