Oh dear. This isn't much of a film I'm afraid, just another chase thriller with an unconvincing sci-fi twist. Hard to believe it's the work of John Woo, even though he puts in a CGI dove to remind us. It's not awful, just very, very ordinary and a good cast is completely wasted.

It was OK. I hate most of John Woos films, infact, all but face/off.
One of the big problems with "future" films, is their are loads of holes, and this has its fair share

I've never been impressed with John Woo, and I wasn't too impressed with this one. Dull, unoriginal and a waste of effort.

Fun, watchable, but never once really hits 'great'. I think Joblo's review summed it up perfectly.

from what i remember of the trailer for Paycheck that i saw ages ago (i admit that i haven't actually seen the film) it looks quite similar to Cypher, as verified by Ol' Blue Eyes in his review, but from a Hollywood approach (think OTT stunt laden dross) rather than as an Independent (think intelligent thriller)... the choice is yours!

I was unfortunate enough to catch this over the weekend. Absolutely awful.:gag: the overuse of slow-mo was very annoying, affleck was his usual bland and uncharismatic self, thurman was wasted, the plot was nonsensical and the action was just not up to todays standards. Rubbish.

I thought it was watchable & reasonably entertaining. Average FX, action, story & acting. Went in not expecting much & left reasonably satisfied.

I don't think we'll ever get to see a great Woo film ever again.

Shame :(

I enjoyed Paycheck more than I thought it would, but it's too similar to other science fiction and action films to be great. It does feel like a rehash of Total Recall and Minority Report, but it has some science fiction elements that are quite good. It's a shame the action scenes weren't more exciting though. After seeing a lot of bad reviews i went in not expecting much and i have to say that probably helped. I thought it was pretty entertaining and quite clever in places. Not one to get on DVD tho.

I thought it was good as well, nothing amazing but a fun action movie with a good enough story.

I think John Woos style only works in HK movies. Because the cheesiness is accepted there.

I enjoyed the movie although it did seem to take an age to actually get going. It does seem to similar to Minority Report and The Bourne Identity to be able to stand out on its own. Still an enjoyable couple of hours entertainment.

I never realised Uma Thurman was so :norty:

You clearly haven't seen Dangerous Liasons, Henry and June, Mad Dog and Glory, and Adventures of Baron Munchausen then. :norty: Just to name a few. :norty: ;)

Too be honest this should have been a STV release - I would rent it, or watch it on C5 after a few beers but never buy it - I can do too much with the £5.99 it should cost to buy.

Sweet Jeebus! Not an original frame in the whole thing. John Woo's American features seem to go from below average to pure pap. This one is somewhere in-between.

Now the third PK Dick film where someone is strapped to a chair for info extraction and just beefcakes his way out against a whole room full of armed heavies!

John Woo is just Paul WS Anderson on a bigger budget. With apologies to Paul.
