Those pyramid boxes must have been very limited, I got one & I can assure you that you are missing nowt. Once you erect the bleedin' thing you can't get the disc out!!!
The Amaray case may be more boring, but at least it's more conventional!! :p
I have the LE box and its crap :( Mind you I did not think that they would have run out of the LE yet

I got my copy delivered today. Fortunately, it was in an Amaray and wasn't that crappy pyramid packaging. :)
I had a look in MVC today and saw the one with the limited edition packaging - it took me ages to get it back in the sleeve afterwards.

Try to imagine how long it takes an incompetnet sale person who cant even put a CD/DVD in te holder without scatching it  :D
Just purchased a copy yesterday afternoon from MVC in the LE box as that is all they had( a bloody shelf full )didn't realise this was limited and there was an amaray box . The assistant tried to build the pyramid once she had figured out how to open it to put the dvd in. Had to tell her not to be so silly and leave the packaging alone.
Never mind packaging will be sent to the loft and dvd put in another case ,can't wait to hear the dts sound track tho'. :D

I got one in an Amaray case from V-Shop, but there was no insert/booklet. It seems a bit cheap of Momentum not to include even a basic chapter list - perhaps they spent their entire packaging budget on developing that crappy pyramid thing...
Momentum didn't include a chpter list/insert in Requiem for a Dream either. Perhaps they're trying to save a few pennies.

I watched this the other night...the extended/additional scenes are of a noticeably lower picture quality. I felt they were quite intrusive when the image quality dropped suddenly...
I have the pyramid packaging...another candidate for a custom sleeve (unless some kind person can scan the amaray inlay for me - although I tend to make my sleeves huge - my xfiles sleeves are 2076*1392!)...

Errrr there is a chapter list on the inside of the cover :p ;)
Also on stargate LE they are on the back of the cardboard pullout :)
As everybody else seems so bothered about the box rather than the content ill just say that this release is far better than the R1 release which i thought was awfull. The picture is a vast improvement in every way.
So, two (ish) things:
[1] How good or bad is the picture quality?
[2] What sort of box does the cardboard sleeve one come in, and is there really a normal boxed version, as there's only 1 sleeved version in Woolies in Grimsby (Virgin, WHSmiths etc in Grimsby and Hull have Zero copies of this!)

I think it's been mentioned before but the French R2 release looks like it's going to be a bit better.
Will be a 2-Disc set with the same extras as the UK R2 plus a few more, English DD5.1 and DTS soundtracks plus, you get the original and director's cut of the movie, but I have been told that there is not a lot of difference.
Only downer is that there won't be English subs, akin to a lot of French DVDs of late. ******* frogs!
Check it out, (in French unfortunately):

1) The picture in general is really good except where you get the extra scenes that have been added back in. I think someone mentioned that they were sourced from the video version but I'm not 100% sure, they are easily spotted though. I also found that in some places that the blacks would be rather grainy but this didn't happen all the time which was a bit weird (no, it wasn't during the extra scenes either). Getting back to my first comment though, the picture is really good otherwise - the desrt scenes are excellent.
2) The card board sleeve contains the folded up pyramid the 'base' of which the plasitc holder for the DVD is attached. There is no case that the sleeve comes in if that's what you meant, the sleeve is the 'case'.
Hope that helps.
:)

Ditto, I have the cr@p pyramid as well, just made an amaray cover for this. I'm uploading it somewhere now. There'll (hopefully) be 2 versions a BIG bmp version and a smaller jpg version.
I'll post when they've finished uploading :D
So am I the only one that actually likes the pyramid packaging ?
Its makes a change from the snapper cases. Warner take note :)
Ok, here is the cover:
BMP Version (http://www.dexco.f9.co.uk/StarGateBMP.zip) 20mb
JPG Version (http://www.dexco.f9.co.uk/StarGateJPG.zip) 3.6mb
Enjoy :D

If it's an English language film with English DD5.1 and DTS soundtracks, you don't need English subtitles!! (unless you're deaf of course)
Considering the UK SE also has DTS why the need to get the French one?

Does anyone actually have the French version ?
From what I've seen on a few french web sites there is some differences in what they claim is on the disc. On one site it says "16/9 compatible 4/3" whatever that means, plus it also said the DTS track is "francais" (www.cinestore.com).
Does it contain more extras than the UK version and if so what ?
Looks to me like the main selling point is the remastered original cinema release but what's the point of that if you've got the DC in DTS ?

According to who?? Please show me a side by side review of the 2 DVD's.
Spero D.
I have the original R1 spec edition. I thought the picture was quite good and you couldn't tell where the extra footage was added. (you can select which version you want and it uses seamless branching.
So my question is this... is it worth upgrading my version and to which one ... UK or French ?

Hmmm. Looking at the 2 side by side, I'd say that unless you really want the theatrical version & documentary, get the U.K release as you should be able to get this cheaper.
