Great film, I am hoping that it will be released on DVD soon . It is the one of the only classic films I loved as a kid which are missing from my DVD collection. Does anyone know what studio produced it?

dbrim, as far as I remember, it was made by Handmade films, the company part-owned by George Harrison (at the time?). That's why he appeared in it.
I loved the film, also. It was one of two very funny ones that Michael Caine did around the same time; Water and Blame It On Rio. BIOR is now out (at least in R1). Now we just have to wait for "Water".
Here's hoping.....:D

Good news.'Water' has just been released in Spain. It is available from www.dvdgo.com for about £11 +p&p,which is a bit high i'm afraid.Info on the disc says it is 1:66:1 and dual layer, which sounds better than average.

Never liked the film myself. I think Cornwall filling in for an island in the Carabiean never really worked for me.

Does anyone remember "In at the Deep End" on TV in the 80s? Chris Hiney (I think it was him) got to be an actor for a day by appearing in Water as a French mercenary. Michael Caine said something to him about his breath stinking of garlic!
A bit like that annoying girl who wrote into Jim'll Fix It asking to be on TV, and got a part in Terry & June.
I watched far too much TV in the 80s (sigh)... :(
