I have a Panasonic AE-100 projector. When I watch a film in a 2:35:1 ratio, I shift the image up using the vertical position function so I can pull my screen down less. Unfortunately, the light of the projector still shines below the screen.
Could I put a piece of paper over the lower part of the lens to stop the light showing below the screen when I am doing the above?
Thanks.

I guess it is possible but you would have to be extremely accurate. When you consider a couple of mm up or down at the lens will prob be a couple of inches on screen.
This is somthing which is sort of done with proper projectors, they have a sliding plate which switches between flat and scope. This wee plate is machined than filed when fitted to the projector head, the smallest burr on the inside of the plate shows up as a big lump on the screen.
Could you not fit a piece of dark "masking" cloth actually on the screen at the point at which the image ends.

The screen is a pull down one so I don't pull it down any further than I need to. I will have a go with the paper. I only asked from a safety point of view.

I didnt actually think of the safety issue, any chance of the paper bursting into flames??? dont know.

If you put the paper next to the lens you'll get a very blurred line!

I tried it, it doesn't work, the paper wont burn, but you have to be too accurate, and you get blurry lines.
