I posted this message last week sometime, so I figure I will try again, asking a slightly different question. If I have a multi-region enabled DVD player (I used a code on it to make it that way), and I purchase a R1 disc with RCE, if I set the player to region one, will the disc play? I have tried to find out about the specific player, believe me I have tried.. but I just can't find anything.
If you have any links where I might find out about the player, they would be appreciated also. It's a Matsui DVD225, many thanks and sorry for re-posting the same question, just figured it might be worth a try once more.
yes it will play.
RCE only affects auto region switching. eg: if you last played a region 2 disc and then put in an R1 RCE disc it will not work, but when you set the region to R1 it will.

On my Toshiba this rule doesn't work  no matter if a Region 1 has been played before, stick an RCE disk in and fall over. I have to bypass the RCE using some wierd title solution.
but when you set the region to R1 it will.
That works on my other DVD Player, my first one a Smart DVD 2000

Yup - that's because most chipped (Well all if I'm not mistaken) are "auto-region selection" which is probably the likes of Techtronics posh way of saying that they're Region 0!
Toshibas therefore are notorious for not liking RCE. Cheap remote hacked DVD players can more often than not be set to specifically be Region 1 only - so no RCE problems.
It's a bummer, but there are so few RCE discs (And the chief offender - Columbia Tristar do very good, full of extras R2 releases), that RCE to most people is an irrelevance.
BTW - I have a Toshiba 2109 - I can't play RCE. Oh well.
