No it's not a joke

most of those song titles have been confirmed

With Death In Vegas producing, it should be a corker
ros
Noel was interviewed in City Life recently and a "rewritten" version was featured in last week's NME..........

There should be a single out in July (most probably Stop the Clocks) and then the album is out in September

Interestingly Noel said the new album would include no instrumentals or ballads and just be straight forward rock n roll

and - better still - the 10th Anniversary Definitely Maybe retrospective DVD will be released this year

Wa-hooooooo!

Actually it should be a 10 track album

I think

They Ain't Got Nothing On You

and They Aint' Got Nothing On Me

are seperate tracks

Oh an Oasis knocker - what a surpsise. Bet you still bought Morning Glory and BHN then went off them when the Sun started to slag them off.:nono:

Exactly....there is a lot more [EDIT] music in the charts at the moment.

The current BRITS nominations are a perfect example. :oh-hum:

Personally, I'm an Oasis fan, and I'm looking forward the New stuff, and with Death In Vegas producing, it should be a good sound.

I know everyone likes different music, but to slate something before it's even been heard is just

I've not been an Oasis fan since, well, Definitely Maybe, but with DIV producing I have hope...

Steve Albini produced the last Page & Plant album but I don't recall it sounding much like Big Black

Am actually quite surprised something so definite is coming out so soon. Doesn't seem that long since HC was released.

Actually Be Here Now has some great tracks on it

Be Here Now - the song - is really, really good

as is It's Getting Better Man!!!!

I'd rate those two along with Don't Go Away and Stand By Me

Do you know what I mean, my big mouth + all around the world are good but just way too long

i think, i hope, I know is more b-side material, as is the girl in the dirty shirt

fade in/fade out + magic pie are :gag:

As noted many-a-time, Be Here Now is far the diaster that a lot of people make it out to be, it's just not as good as Definitely Maybe, What's The Story Morning Glory and The Masterplan (the golden years you could say)

and it's amazing it made it to number 2 in the U.S album charts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fade In/Out is so underrated as a song, it even has Johhny Depp playing guitar on it!

Be Here Now isn't that bad, remember Q gave it 5 stars on release and only started slagging it off when Noel said he thought it was rubbish. It isn't rubbish though, it is overblown however and there are good songs there. I would love to see the album reworked though to something more managable than a 4 minute song lasting well over 7 minutes.

maybe we should have a 'be here now (naked)'

If most tracks were trimmed by 3 mins, it'd be a decent LP.And Fade In/Out is my fave track, but tracks like Stand By Me and Don't go Away make me :gag: - Oasis at their worst!

R u on crack !!!!!!!11111111

et cetera

:D

Actually I think if you took half of Be Here Now and half of Standing on the shoulders of giants

you'd have one great album

!

As a whole I think 'Be Here Now' holds up far better, flaws and all, than 'Standing...'. I'm sure that having half your band leave doesn't help matters too much.

But I do really like 'Heathen Chemistry'. Though I'm a little peeved that 'Force Of Nature' made it on as it's an old song anyway, plus I feel it's a little weak. But the rest of the album just feels better than the last few. Musically they try out a few new things and the album is the better for it.

I hear that 'Stop The Clocks' is a fantastic song though so it bodes well so far.

I think songs like Idler's Dream and Gas Panic are great Oasis songs that defy the cries that "they all sound the same"

but I think Effin In the Bushes, Who Feels Love, Go Let It Out, Sunday Morning Call and Gas Panic are all class songs from SOTSOG (and Let's All Make Believe is a great b-side)

Heathen Chemistry was a fantastic album too. Loved all the songs off there, even though my least favourite was Probably All in the Mind (probably the only song that will never be played live as johnny marr - I THINK - did some nifty guitar work for the song)

But back on topic, here's hoping they can follow on from HC and make a really good piece of rock n roll.

it'll never be like it was in 96 but, hey, it's just rock n roll

;)

Gonna check this out, although their last album didn't really do much for me, apart from a few tracks which were really class.

Heh, I forgot about Idlers Dream - only came out on the Japanese disc though didn't it?

Anyway - as for 'Standing...', I guess it has good songs on there although the acoustic 'Who feels love' is much better and I agree that 'Gas Panic' is a fantastic song, probably one of the best Noel has written. But as a whole the album leaves me a little cold, probably because it's so short for one thing. Isn't it like 9 or 10 songs and one of them is an instumental and 2 of them are completely throwaway ('I can see a liar' and 'Put your money where your mouth is'). I'm sure that doesn't help things, though then again BHN has 12 songs and runs for some 70+ minutes.

HC, as I said before though is a much better album and actually feels like the band were enjoying themselves this time (Though I still don't like 'Force Of Nature'). However, the band's biggest downfall is that they won't try anything new (Though I hope it changes with DIV producing), despite the fact that they've stuck to almost the same formula since they started, the only difference is that it worked then because the songs were good (Or Noel actually had something to write about). Songs like 'She is Love' and 'Songbird' sounded great because of their simplicity and the melodies and not about how many guitars they can overdub onto the track. I'd rather see them go all out and try something completely different and fail at it than have them never try it at all.

Very good point in fact Noel - Kevin Smith alsso (who has said this) - made the point "how many times can you re-do singing about the same thing?" (obviously it's filming in Smith's case)

Andy Bell said in one of the DVD interviews that the Oasis sound is pretty much set but there's room in there to play around a bit.

Would be nice to see some varied material, I agree.

We shall see though

Its really pretty refreshing to see some positive stuff on this thread about oasis. I think they are abs. excellent and always have done. Oasis clicked with me from the very start. I have every single, album and even a cassette single of Cigarettes and Alcohol that is like a real fag packet-not being one to brag sorry!)

However I must also add that Sunday Morining Call is class and my favourite from Heathen Chemistry was Stop crying your heart out.

Personally cant wait for new album and I have really missed them..

hope they find a new drummer as good as alan though:norty:

Fantastic! Can't wait for this one, I know we'll never get another Definitely Maybe but I'm hoping it really will be pure rock n roll.

Thanks for the heads up. This news sounds excellent. If the music is anything like Liam's Scorpio Rising with Death In Vegas, then it'll be a great dirty rock/psychadelic sound. I actually quite happy to hear that there wont be ballands on their new album - not because i don't like them (i'm a huge fan of all Oasis material) but because Noel's been slated for it in some quarters for "dad rock", so i think this move should shut up those who complain Oasis can't do R'n'R tunes anymore. I'm hoping for an album that captures youth, exuberance, vitality and adrenaline. Oasis have already laid down enough of the ballad tracks over their excellent career, so perhaps any new ones can be saved for B-sides, just like back in the days of DM and WTS(MG).

I'll be sure to check out the new DVD too. ;)

No, Idler's Dream was a b-side on the Hindu Times CD single. EDIT: beaten to it.

IIRC, Noel said that he's written tonnes of "non-Oasis" songs, like Stop Crying Your Heart Out (i.e. ballads), but he doesn't want to do those songs with Oasis......mind you Noel does say a lot of things doesn't he? (!!!!)

Liam's song-writing has improved too. From Little James to Songbird, Born on a different cloud and Better Man is a remarkable improvement.

Can't wait for the new album. They really should make a better go at promoting the album -- especially in America.

If I remember correctly, they sold roughly the following amount of copies in the U.S:

Definitely Maybe - 750,000
WTSMG: 3.5 million
Be Here Now - 950,000
Standing on the Shoulders of Giants - 189,000
Heathen Chemistry - 105,000

Worldwide H.C shifted 3 million copies (1.7 million in Europe, 1.3 million in the rest of the world) -- so there is still, obviously, a buying public out there.

But, of course, musically, that should never be the REAL point.

Here's hoping for Turn Back the Clocks......sorry, the next album

(hehe!)
