Having missed this on TV recently I want to get it on DVD.

And where can I buy it? - can't find it at the usual places, Play etc.

I don't know about the DVD - but - I saw it on TV a while ago... Reasonable film (nothing like as good as the first - far better than "The Heretic") which had it's moments, but overall wasn't very good.

I thought Exorcist 3 was absolutely wonderful. It's a particular treat if you don't know what happens as there are some amazing moments in there. I far prefer it to the first film.

Got mine from *********. No extras but picture/sound aren't bad.

Thumbs up from me too.

It has some truly pant-cacking moments which I'd love to spoil for you, but I won't. :D and a genuinely sinister atmosphere.

Go get it, watch it in the dark on your own tho'

Superb Film, apart from the tacked on ending :(

I've never found the first film to be effective. I think that those with religious convictions tend to find it more scary, whereas I usually laugh at how seriously they're all taking it.
On the otherhand, I found Exorcist 3 to be an extrmemly moody film, and quite tense in places. There's some great boo-scares, with one in particular standing out-when you see it you'll know the one I mean!
It also has a sense of humour that the first film is lacking.
The disk is bare bones, but picture quality is sharp, with some scenes perhaps being a little grainy. Overall it was fine, and well worth the £10 Boxoffice and A&BSound are asking for it.

This is the true follow up to the exorcist, based on Blatty's own book Legion and has some very spine tingling moments and set pieces.
The disc quality is superb but lacking extras it does contain the theatrical trailer which has the original title of Legion.
Some kind of discussion or commentry about the history of the film and the re-shot scenes would have been welcome but i suppose we are lucky to even see the film in this quality.

A really excellent grown-up horror movie; very atmospheric. George C. Scott and Brad Dourif (sp?) on great form.

I really like it. Very atmospheric and very spooky. George C Scott is excellent. A different kind of film from the first one and stands up well on its rights.

It has one of my favourite bits in a horror film, but I wouldn't want to spoil it for you by telling what that is. Don't let the dissapointing second Exorcist film put you off this one.

I think it's a very good horror film in its own right, although the studio messed around with it and forced Blatty to include an exorcism sequence which is different in tone to the rest of the film. However, George C.Scott is great, as usual, and there are some very weird scenes indeed - one true classic shock moment as well.

However, it's not as good as the first and I have to say that I think the second is better than both of them, but that's not a common point of view.

You can find my DVD Times review of "Exorcist III" here (http://www.dvdtimes.co.uk/index.cgi?html=y&id=reviews/region1/exorcist3.html)

When you think of the Scream 'influenced' studio workouts we've had to endure in the name of horror films in recent years, I think Exorcist III stands out like a beacon. Excellent cast, truly unnerving atmosphere (which reminds me of nothing more than Carpenter's 'Prince of Darkness', which seems to be almost universally hated, so I'll stop there) and a stand out hit-the-ceiling moment that seems to have become the stuff of popular DVDForums-lore !!

Brad Dourif gives it his all, and is always magnificent whatever he's in, but it's not a patch on the original. Get it anyway though.

exocist 3 is miles scarier than the first! - and a far better movie in general. The 3rd follows on from the 1st quite nicely. I'd say that if you liked the 1st movie, than the 3rd is a MUST SEE.

to be honest, i cant see what all the fuss is about surrounding the first movie and it's ashame that the 3rd is often overlooked.

i'd highly recommend it. There are some mommnets in the 3rd which STILL stick in the mind, much more so than the laughable attempt of a girl's 360 degree head spin from the first movie.

I heart Prince of Darkness - it's smashing. They're all wrong and we're right. :D

The screenplay for "The Exorcist" was published a few years back and included the screenplay for "Exorcist 3/Legion" with the original ending. Certainly worth tracking down.
The movie "Exorcist 3" is truly excellent and we can only hope for a "Special Edition" that includes both endings (I think the "original" ending was shot, at any rate).

Re "Prince of Darkness" - Hated it when I first saw it in 1987. I'd been abroad for a year and was starved of horror flicks. However, it's one that definitiely improves on repeated viewings and it's now one of my favourite Carpenter movies.

Exorcist III is one of my fav movies. It has a creepy and different atmosphere.

The DVD has an incredible 5.1 soundtrack, you won't believe your ears! The image quality is superb. The only point that it lacks is the "extras" section which only includes a theatrical teaser (by the way the teaser is quite good)...

I highly recommend you to buy the DVD. It is quite cheap!

Twas a joke my friends.

Mark Kermode....Whenever I see Channel 4 showing a documentary even vaguely connected to William Friedkin, I just know I'm going to see that 50's teddy boy quiff headed nonce.

That's maybe a tad harsh, but it all stems from the fact that he seems to think that the Exorcist is his own personal property, that he discovered it first, and no one else can ever love it as much as him.

erm, yeah.
Regardless of your personal dislike of him, Kermode was instrumental in the rediscovery of the lost Exorcist footage, made a fine documentary about the film and it's cultural impact & wrote a superb volume on it for the BFI. I'd say he's more than qualified to hold his opinions and he's probably closer to it than any other film journalist working today, so fair play to him

Based on all the talk of this film recently in here, I've decided to buy it from DVD Pacific for... £4 delivered :notworthy In any event, it now means if it's crap I don't have to worry about it though I trust it to be quite the scare now I've read everyone's opinions.

Taped Exorcist 3 from the other night determined to give it another go (I've tried to watch it on several other occasions but have usually turned it off within half an hour because I found it to be so slow, so I've never seen it in its entirety before).
I can't believe this is same film I've been unable to watch in the past as I thoroughly enjoyed it and found it kicked off at a fair old pace. I'd been waiting for THAT scene as mentioned here for most of the film so it didn't have as much impact, but it was still very effective and the film as a whole was nice and sinister with some great scares.
The ending was rubbish though it didn't need the Gemini killer to explain everything like some episode of Columbo, and some of the later gore fx shots were out of place as well. I really think they could have given Nicol Williamson some more lines as well (would somebody like to tell me why this man hasn't been in a film since 1997? Hope he hasn't retired.

The Exorcist is pretty much my favourite film of all time (it certainly never leaves my top three) and this could have been a worthy sequel without that ending. Still a good film though and suitably chilling. Must read the book now.
