View Full Version : Feeder, recommendations...
I've borrowed a copy of Echo Park and think it's excellent (no doubt others will disagree ;) ), so I thought I'd ask for recommendations for any of their other albums and how they compare to this one?
Also whilst I'm here, I see that there's a few different versions of Echo Park available. In particular a Japanese version with several bonus tracks (including Just A Day) and also another version (not sure which contry it's from) that has the single extra track Just A Day on it too. Is the Japanese version worth getting? I'd like to get Just A Day on it but wondered where the best place to get a copy from?

If you liked Echo Park than personally I don't think you can go wrong with either the previous album Yesterday Went To Soon or the most recent album Comfort In Sound.
It's true that their sound has mellowed slightly as the albums have gone on, but not in a bad way like the Stereophonics.
If you like the heavier stuff go for YWTS or if you like the mellower stuff go for CIS.
Alternatively if you've got the dosh go for both, I'd be surprised if you were disapointed.
No idea about the Japanese version of Echo Park I'm afraid, I got the UK version when it came out. I'm guessing the bonus tracks are all b-sides as Just a Day originally was.

My fav album is probably 'Yesterday Went too Soon' but they are all excellent, Polythene is a lot more rocky but contains the infamous track 'High'
They're old albums are all pretty cheap at Amazon at the moment, look here (http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00005CBX3/qid=1073570503/sr=2-1/ref=sr_2_11_1/202-9274740-8153455) , here (http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00000K3ZM/ref=pd_sim_pm_dp_1/202-9274740-8153455) and here (http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00005LW21/ref=pd_sim_pm_dp_1/202-9274740-8153455) ;)
Thanks for the info guys, I'll look into a few purchases especially at those low prices at Amazon

Comfort In Sound. Fantastic album. Buy it.
Think Just A Day was added to later releases of Echo Park - they did the same with High on the Polythene album.
All of the albums are very good :)

That was the impression I got after a quick look around but wasn't 100% sure.
Looking at the details on Amazon here (http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00005AQAW/qid=1073583759/sr=2-1/ref=sr_2_11_1/026-8711823-6865261) (12 tracks) and here (http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000059QXA/qid=1073583715/sr=2-2/ref=sr_2_11_2/026-8711823-6865261) (11 tracks) the extra track is Satellite News  But in other places (can't find them right now) the extra track was Just A Day so making it 13 tracks from the 12 track album.
i think when echo park first came out, the sticker on the front said satellite news was an extra track. However don't know how it was coz all the cds i saw had it. i think it was an extra track compared to the euro or usa release. doubt it'll make any difference to you, but just a day is also a b-side ( i think it was on 7 days in the sun single).
in my opinion you havent heard feeder till you hear Swim's title track... but thats probably just me.
freedb.org lists 8 versions, with between 11 and 15 tracks!

It amazes me how such an average band can be so huge. Guess its the death-of-a-member symptom.

Whichever version you get make sure it has got Satellite News on it. It's an amazing track (probably in my top 5 of Feeder tracks) especially as it was supposedly only a bonus track, should've been a single.

Yeah must be, especially as they had their biggest hits while he was still alive :cuckoo: :cuckoo: :cuckoo:

Yep, it's a good track and typically I can get the 15 track Japanese version at a good price but that track is missing :(
Have ordered Comfort in Sound including the DVD for a bargain £6.99 :D

Were they doing Stadium tours then?
If rumors are to be believed, Grant 'nice guy' Nicholas was in the studio demoing his 'quiet verse, stringed chorus' new songs 'inspired by Jon Lee's death' only a few days after the chap snuffed it.

Campdave may be one of those that has the habit of making himself look very silly but I'll give him credit for having the most honest profile: Biography - "Bit of a loser really"

The Japanese Echo Park includes satellite news and Just A Day, but it's the japanese Just A Day as used in Gran Turismo 3, now the one they released over here...still a cracking track though
Oh, and get all the albums, you'll not be disappointed

Does anyone know what's so special about the SACD release?
Is it in 5.1, or just nicer sounding?

Looking at Amazon's listing for it, it doesnt show any special features. I suppose it'll just be a re-release for the new format, with higher bitrate sound
has anyone bought this (http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0000B17RL/202-6695934-3953418) version of "Comfort in Sound" from Amazon UK?
It lists the dvd tracks and shows the cd/dvd cover but the listing says it's one disc only. Is it safe to assume it's the cd/dvd version?
cheers
Richie
