For anybody who's interested.....

PET SHOP BOYS "MONTAGE"

Pet Shop Boys release "Montage", a new live video and DVD, on November 12.

Filmed on their 1999/2000 "Nightlife" world tour, "Montage" is a unique concert film featuring live footage presented simultaneously over layers of backdrop projections and videos.

The main concert footage was filmed over 2 nights in Germany; this was then augmented with material collected from many different sources, including news footage and filmed footage from shows on the American leg of the tour. The film also utilises the original projections of the show, plus parts of Pet Shop Boys" videos and other films, including a film of a casting session for a video.

The whole film captures not only the unique nature of the "Nightlife" tour, with its" stage set designed by renowned architect Zaha Hadid, but the innovation that runs through all of Pet Shop Boys" work. "Montage" is a stunning visual experience with a soundtrack of Pet Shop Boys classics, including many of their hit singles.

"Imagine a hi energy disco sequence in Kubrick"s 2001, or a production of "West Side Story" as conceived by Almodovar and you begin to get the picture of the "Nightlife" show", wrote the "Independent on Sunday" when the tour played New York.

The surround sound music mix on the film was done by Bob Kraushaar.

R1 is available on the 20th November. Now I wonder where's the cheapest?

Wasn't too impressed with Nightlife, but the songs seemed to have a much harder edge in the live performances that the BBC broadcast from Glastonbury last year.

Would be interested to know if this is in Dolby Digital 5.1 and widescreen, otherwise...

Noel M the Nightlife tour doesn't just have songs from the same album. And yes when I saw the show in Newcastle the songs sound a whole lot sharper live and many were remixed for the show.

AFAIK on their message boards it has been confirmed by Neil Tennant that it is Dolby Digital 5.1 as was their last dvd release 'Somewhere'. Don't know about widescreen but they would be abit foolish not too.

I really enjoyed the tour - I just can't find anywhere to pre-order the DVD - been waiting for it since the show!

Thank god somebody is interested, I thought I was the only one:D The tour was good wasn't it, especially liked the Being Boring remix they did.

I reckon the best bet for the R2 will be Play as they still stock Somewhere. Let me know if you find anywhere stocking it at a nice price.

I have it down for 13th November, so I'm wondering why nobody has it to pre-order yet. It seems rather odd, at this stage. IIRC there was a mastering problem which put it back by a week, so I'm worried that it'll be delayed even further.

New album next year, BTW.

Just finished recording the album haven't they and a new tour for next year as well:)

Can't see it being the 13th as that would make it a Tues, ususally in the UK things get released on the Monday which makes it the 12th. Well if nobody has it online then it's down to HMV or Virgin I guess.

Just got the Closer to Heaven soundtrack (which is excellent) and am looking forward to this DVD.

BTW, wasn’t Montage the pretend name for Johnny Vaughan & Denise Van Outen’s "child"?

That was the original date but they spotted a problem with the disk and postponed the release date by a week. All details on their website (http://www.petshopboys.co.uk).
