I've got one. Off the top of my head I think each of the three sections is 50cm wide. I'll dig my tape out and double check.

I've got the same bench - each slot is just wider than a standard HiFi component about 1cm in total IIRC.

I needed to drill some higher support peg holes to get my Yamaha DSP-A5 under the shelf in the left hand side.
This would have been MUCH easier if I'd done it before I put the thing together so you might want to add spome extra holes before you assemble.

Also check that your interconnects will be long enough for where your components are going. My digital coax lead wasn't long enough to go from the DVD player on the right across to the amp on the left so I had to put the DVD in the middle slot where my centre was originally intended to sit.

Ive got one as well ,

i put the Amp in the middle, all the other components on either side, the best thing is the ease at which it moves due to the wheels ! and it looks fab as well.

Definatly check your interconnects.I have two of these ,side by side(without the wheels). They are quite deep,so when each piece of kit is pushed forwards, the inteconnect has to travel around the thick wall of the cabinet and to the front.I recently upgraded and got caught out,and had to replace most of my cables. The main reason being that the kit is side by side ,as opposed to vertically stacked.
With regards to size,i have changed my kit regularly and i have never had anything that wouldnt fit. They weigh a fair bit aswell,i have a large tv and heavy speakers on top.....they do the job very well.

Looking at that photo I would have thought the TV would be way too high up?
The top of my 32" Sony CRT is level with my eyes sitting on the sofa which I find comfortable - higher would give me neck ache I'd have thought? That said I've seen plenty of people mounting plasmas over their fireplaces which I wouldn't find comfy.

On a different note...

I've been toying with the idea of a projector to supplement the TV for movies. I've been wondering if I could build a lightweight detachable fabric screen that would fix onto the bench and/or TV. It would need to allow sound to pass through from the centre and be quick to fit and remove. Anyone done something similar or got a suggestion where to start in designing one?

I,ve a Sony 44" tv and speakers, on two of these placed side by side,it works well.
