I know that is a bit of a sensationalist subject thread but it's worked for me.

I have power dvd and pc friendly installed on my pc and both have never let me access the dvd-rom contents on r1 discs.
I wanted to check out the new dvd star wars site so i had to install the software on the disc (interactual)

Just out of curiosity i thought i'd bung in MI:2 (r1) to see what would happen, to my surprise it loaded without hitch and let me look at the DVD-ROM extras. I have so far tried Meet the parents, Se7en and T2 (although that wouldn't let me go very far)

I apologise if i am repeating common knowledge, but this (dvd-rom) is new to me and a bit of a surprise.

Is this suppossed to happen??

However i CANNOT play the (r1) films, i get a message saying internal error or something. Shame but at least i can look at r1 dvd-rom without having to modify my drive

Let me know if anyone else has had a similiar experience.

I have WinDVD, PowerDVD and ATI player - all play any region DVD I throw at them.

The reason being is my DVD ROM is region free and I've made Windows region free with a nice bit of software called 'Region Killer'

On a similar track, has anyone had any trouble playing either of the discs on a PC?

Every other DVD I've tried has worked perfectly (even the ones that my poxy Proline can't handle  ) but for some reason SW:E1:TPM refuses to play ball.

I've tried it with ATI software, PowerDVD, and the InterActual software that's on the disc - none of them will play the bugger !!!

Judging by the above messages, mine's a fairly isolated problem, but I thought I'd mention it, in the vain hope that someone would show me the error of my ways.....

jefflynne, I've had similar trouble involving other discs, were ATI and PowerDVD wouldn't play them, so I tried WinDVD and that worked great. I'm using WinDVD 2.3 if your interested, but I believe that Version 3 is out now, and that supports DTS apparently.

Oh, and if there's anyone else having trouble with their PC only being able to play R2 or R1 discs (because their DVD drive or Windows is region set), then mail me and I might be able to help you out (like Robby).

How do you access the dvd-rom content in PowerDVD? The Interactual stuff of the disk just crashes my machine and says I don't have a "DVD Navigator" whatever that is!!
