there have been a number of 'classic album' dvd's released - u2 is one that springs to mind. they are (if i remember correctly) documentaries of the making of the album interspersed with music videos from the album. they are packaged with a cd occasionally (this might be a limited edition run, as i've also seen them as 'normal' dvd's).
the iron maiden one will be released on the 26th nov, and it's 16.99 at amazon (and probably cheper elsewhere).

Play have it for £13.99, but the only info is this blurb;

A unique insight into the music and the artists, the development through to recording, release and public reaction to a series of albums which have, in effect, shaped the course of popular music over the last thirty years.

666 the Number of the Beast, hell and fire sworn to be released!

What Iron Maiden DVD? Where can I get it?

I love their old stuff, Piece of Mind is probably their best album. Their latest stuff is rubbish.

Much as I like a bit of Iron Maiden I'd hardly say that anything they have ever released helped to shape the course of popular music.

IMO the best album is still the first. Ok the production leaves something to be desired but the sheer energy it exhudes is fantastic. I was fortunate enough to see them with Di Anno and boy did they rock.

I was unfortunately a member of the support act on a tour of his a few years ago - he certainly didn't rock then! He couldn't sing to save his life and looked more like Big Daddy than a 'Rock Star'. The best Maiden album has to be Number of the Beast - but anything after Piece of Mind should best be forgotten about.

Hi range always was severely limited which was part of the reason he was kicked out in the first place.

What was the name of your band? I might have seen you on my travels.

What about 7th son of a 7th son?? I thought that was one of the best Maiden albums. Though anything after that was a bit cack really, bar the odd track.

IMO Maiden are yet to release a duff album with the exception of the Blaze ones.
Even Brave New World rocks harder than most new so-called metal/rock bands.
