View Full Version : JVC DVD Recorder problem, PLEASE HELP!
I just bought a JVC DVD recorder (the DR-M1SLB), which seemed to work fine, but when i checked a recording it had recorded the TV channels I was watching, not the video input which I wanted. It starts to record the video, but as soon as I change channel, it records that. There is an option to turn this feature off "Direct Rec", which I have set to OFF, but it still does it. Any idea how I can stop it?(other than staying on the same TV channel, which isn't practical)
Thanks

Sounds like your recording from the wrong video input. The scart lead connected to the recorder and tv also sends back the signal from whatever the tv is watching. I.e. you swop channels on the tv and thats whats sent back along the scart lead. You need to change to another setting. Assuming the jvc has two scart sockets and front a/v inputs you probably have 3 choices which may start from 0 or 1.
The input channel i used is the only one that seemed to register the videos signal, he AV thing is an option , but surely SCART should be the simplest method? And the DIRECT RECORD feature shouldnt work if its turned to OFF......and also, when having a scart lead going from a TV to video the video reords the channel it was set to record, not the tv

It sounds like you recorded the analogue TV on channels 1 - 5.
The TV sends the signal of the channel it is on to the recorder via scart. If you connected the recorder to the TV on AV1 of the recorder you then select that input on the recorder, and you will get the TV through the recorder. Just press record.

Most admit I'm a bit confused. Can you clarify exactly whats connected to what via scart. Also how many aux inputs are there to choose from on the JVC?
If you selected a channel on the JVC's bult in tuner. Lets say BBC 1 would that record ok?
If it does work ok I'm reasonably sure you have selected the wrong aux channel and you are recording from the television scart socket instead of the one you need.
The only other thing I can think of is you have the scarts going to the wrong sockets. Perhaps you've got the scart lead plugged into the tv when it should be plugged into the back of the JVC in its second scart socket.

If he is recording from the JVC tuner, then he is using the just the aerial going into the it and not a scart lead to record.
If he has AV1 from the recorder to the TV connectd. He needs to select that on the JVC to record from.
Is the video plugged into the DVD recorder or the tele?
