View Full Version : Shrek
AS I DIP MY TOE FOR THE FIRST TIME, CAN YOU SHED SOME LIGHT ONTO WHICH REGION IS THE BEST FOR SHREK
I'd got the impression that Region 1 is the only option for those with a multi-region player as (a) R2/R4 is single disc as opposed to the 2-disc R1 set, and (b) only R1 has the DTS soundtrack.

Welcome MR BIG!!!
Rewind ( www.dvdcompare.org.uk ) have a superb comparison up. It looks like R1 will be a 2disc set and have thousands more extras and DTS. Both are 15.99 on Play247 ( the r2 has dropped to the same price a few days ago :) ). However, most extra features on the R1 are games focused towards kids. Still, seeing they're the same price, R1 is the obvious winner in this comparison, if only for the DTS track. Definately a superb film with a great dvd treatment to match it! :)

Can someone clarify something for me?
I'm tempted to get the R1 Shrek but do the games listed play via the DVD player or are they DVD-ROM only?
I should imagine the games would only be accessible for those priviliged enough to own a DVD-rom drive. I haven't come across any games that can be played via a full sized DVD video player. I could be wrong though.
Reviews seemed to suggest that 3 of the games played via the set.

Snow White has a simple but effective (for the 1st time) Dopey mine DVD game on it which involves making choices, answering questions etc.
Shrek games appears to be all DVD Rom:
Shrek at Play (http://www.play.com/play247.asp?page=title&r=R1&title=95502)
All the reviews I've read suggest that there are a number of games that are playable from the dvd player (rather than being DVD Rom).
The comparison here (http://www.dvdcompare.org.uk/index.htm) also lists other R1 extras that aren't on the R2/4 discs.
I know which one I'm going for :D
region 1 wins again:rolleyes:
Thanks for your input. I am waiting for play to send my region 1
