Two questions:
[1] Is it normal to start playing the film immediaely as when I put the disc in, the menu was missed out, and the film came straight on?

[2] I have a Tosh2109/Yamaha A5 amp, and when I went to the menu, selected DTS, and it was completely silent until I used the audio button and the cursors a couple of times on my control.
Normally, when DTS is selected, I heard the piano strings sequence then the film without problem.

Anyway, nice layer change.....at least the screen turned black between scenes for less than 1/2 sec rather than sticking it in the middle of a scene.

Does that on my copy. :)

Don't have a DTS set up, so can't help you with your second query. Sorry :(

It started playing straight away on my copy as well. I sat there for a minute or two thinking what a great opening sequence for the menu's.

Didn't get the DTS problem though.

I have the VS10 with a Tosh 210e. What problems are you having mate, if any?

Most of my R4 don't have inserts, all relevant info is usually printed on the back of the cover in a clear amaray.

I reckon it might be youe Wharfedale as my VS-10 has performed faultlessly with DTS. Haven't heard Predator, don't like the movie, but have Pitch Black and it was fine. SPR, Josie, Bring It On, Gladiator, Men in Black etc have all been fine.

Either it's your dvd player or your VS10 has a fault. Or even your optical or coaxial cable might be dud but then DD 5.1 should have faults then. Hmmmm, can't think of anything else. Maybe get a mates player and play the said dvd's again, process of elimination.
