I'm talking about films like Apollo 13 and Jaws, whats the point in withdrawing them from sale?

probably so they can add another trailer or something to the extras and re-release them next year as a 'special special' edition.

It's often done to allow for a reissue at a budget price.

It's also used as a marketing ploy to encourage people to buy a title they have thought about getting but not yet purchased.

There already is a 25th Anniversary Collector's Edition.

AFAIK Apollo 13 had 3 different releases on Region 1, a flipper disc (deleted ages ago), a dual layer disc and a DTS version. The Collector's Edition for Apollo 13 as a documentary and commentary.

I recently noticed that Scarface on Region 2 was deleted, probably because they're going to release the Anniversary Edition.
