That is by far the coolest thing i've seen in A/V in years.
Is this the same sound beam technology where you only hear the sound if you are in the beam field? I remember seeing a demo of this technology on TV where they had a disco with everyone dancing on the floor and everyone sitting around the dance floor could only hear the people dancing and not the music! Very weird. Then when you stepped onto the floor and into the beam area. BLAM! Instant sound. I remember watching thinking wow. Imagine being able to have your home cinema or stereo as loud as you want in a flat and the neighbours wouldn't even be aware it is on!
T3 had a review of the original one of these, yikes ages back now...it wasn't Pioneer, so they must have brought out/licensed it
DS1 I think was the name.
good for compact/restricted areas...not sure how it would manage against a proper setup though.

£25000 (http://www.avland.co.uk/pioneer/pdsp1/pdsp-1.htm) actually, What a bargain ;)
mmm, thought it was...it uses bouncy waves:) (like the rest of the mass of fake surround systems)
I can't see how this would work well in a 'normal' room...in a uniform cell maybe.
