Hi there.
At the moment, I only have a psone :(
But I do have a widescreen tv and a laptop with tv out! :norty:
I plug it into my telly via composite, which isn't too bad to be honest! Sound is provided by my normal pro logic sound system.
I use an external USB keyboard to save having to have two screens in action as its a laptop :D
Picciees!111
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/angelamclellan/pcgamesetup/
Okay, I don't have that many games, but it sure beats using a 15" screen equipped laptop :)
Spec:
Sony PCG FR105 Vaio laptop
AMD Athlon XP 2000
Geforce 4 420 go! 16mb graphics
256mb ram.
Makes for a fine evening when there's nothing worth watching on telly :)

Ok folks - here's mine.... not the neatest of setups... but sharing a house with the missus doesn't give me the space I'd like :)
Main TV - Philips 28" Widescreen with Yamada DivX/DVD Player, Panasonic Micro-Hi-Fi, PS/2 and something old that apparantly is called a Video Recorder :)

Well, here are my decidedly modest setups:
http://server4.uploadit.org/files2/141203-pc.jpg
Doesn't look like much (cheap case and monitor)- but it's what's inside that counts :D
AthlonXP 2500+
512Mb DDR PC3200 RAM
80Gb WD 7200rpm HDD
Abit NF7-S
GF4 Ti4200
NEC-1300a
And there's my little beany Simba! You can also see me previewing a previously-taken photo on the monitor- it didn't turn out to well :)
http://server4.uploadit.org/files2/141203-tv.jpg
Now while this might look suspiciously game console-free, I assure you that the Xbox is temporarily in the living room area (it was the host for a multiplayer Xbox Live sesh a couple of nights ago- that's where the blue ethernet cable from my PC leads to!) :) Look at all that dust on everything though... It's not right, is it?
It's a bit annoying having the TV at the end of my bed though- but this is my Uni place and there isn't enough room to have it anywhere else I'm afraid... Ah well!
craigizmo2k2

Mate;
Eltax millenium speakers?
Very nice ones, I must say, have the millenium center speaker and rears myself, but in different rooms now :)
My setups:
My back room upstairs: PC and Dreamcast.

They're called something like that! Cheap and cheerful, but great sound for the money  The front L & Rs should be on stands really, but I don't have mine with me here at Uni
I hardly get a chance to play games or watch DVDs anymore tbh- either I'm doing work, sleeping or drinking: I find it hard to fit them in to my busy schedule :D
EDIT: Yo, Craig- did you say you connect your Laptop with the TV-Out to the composite connectors on your TV? I have a TV-Out on my graphics card, but when I link it up to the composite connectors on my TV the picture is awful- it's very blurry and has very bad ghosting :( How is it for you?

I got it from Ikea 2 years ago, but it wasn't listed on the website, and even now I don't think it is.
Not sure I kept the assembley instructions otherwise I would give you the exact make and model.

How do you have your 7940 setup? Are you fully routed with RRAS or do you have an easier way?
Paul Lynock
14-12-2003, 13:46
RRAS ??
It was given to me by the company that provides the internet here, so I don't know much about it I'm afraid. It's plugged into the wall via an ethernet cable, and is linked to my PC by another ethernet cable- sorry I can't be more specific!
This is my new setup.
My mate had to come round and show me how to use it - although I think he set it up wrong - it's not giving me DTS sound!?

Not really a server, more a spare. I have another monitor for it but rarely have 4 people playing at once, 3 seems to be ok and gives a bit of space to the printer.

You're wasting a TFT on a £50 PC

Hold on John, how am I wasting a TFT by running it at its native resolution on a VGA port when the pc was just cheap?
Explain what you mean please.
I wouldn't waste £300 on a TFT to end up buying a old PC for £50. Would rather spend £75 on a 17" CRT and then £225 on a decent PC.
But then again I don't need to worry about all this as I just got my new SyncMaster 172v and Biostar 200V with AMD 3000+ setup (Must find time to build the BioStar :()

Was this tft really 300 quid?

You have to pay for quality...Why bother using cheap components that may need to replaced time and time again when you can just splash out on a high quality component in the first place and have it serve you well right until you no longer require it :searchme:
And the TFT actually cost me £270 .
I've merged threads just in case you were all wondering what happened.

The pc it came with was a Compaq Presairo 2400 pc... we got it for 300 quid i think - not bad with a tft that almost cost the same

It's as good as any other 25ms monitor :) Can't comment on DVD playback as I don't use my PC for that, but I do a lot of gaming and for me it's fine. There is a little ghosting but it's not enough to cause me any problems or discomfort.

Play Asia sell it for around £10 delivered. It's called a YPbPr Power Box.
I have 2 of them connected together. One for switching components whih is then connected to the other one in reverse for switching between my lcd display and projector.

Hi mate, I'm after doing the exact same thing with my setup but I can't work out how to do it with 2 boxes. I know I'll have 2 or 3 inputs connected to the first box but where do I connect this to on the second ? Does the box come with a set of component leads for the output signal or does it need a seperate set connecting up, It looks like the lead is included on the playasia site.

It has 3 sets of phono inputs for the component + audio and it has a preconnected output lead (soldered to the circuit board). With mine I hacked off the output cables and soldered wires between the 2 circuit boards, but you could always use female to female phono connectors to connect both he boxes with out having to rewire them.

Cheers for that, I wondered if that might be the case, do you notice any drop in quality having the cables pass through the 2 boxes ?

Not noticed any drop in quality. They are manual switches so they have no eletronics to interfere with the signal.

Hi mate. Cant find the link to the shop I bought it from. Was in the Uk and cost about £14.
It works a treat. So handy just flick the switch. Well worth the cash.

Nice to see the Snes and DC getting regular use, I can't keep all the consoles out all the time so It's usually only the cube, 360 and xbox for me.
the DC is used but the snes broke a couple months ago, im still trying to find a cheap replacement. My NES retocon (bottom left) is the most used though
The pc in the middle is my emu box/media center which plays N64, PSx and most sega games, but ive never been interested in any of the current gens so havent bothered getting one
I will how ever be clearing it all away for the Wii pretty soon though ;)
