View Full Version : Auf Wiedersehen Dvds Dropped By Carlton
A post on dvd debate.com claims the much anticipated dvds of the geordie favourites have been dropped as the master tapes are not up to dvd standards for picture and sound quality,(no doubt this wont stop them releasing the videos again and again though) Surely though the Prisoner was off tape masters ???
Anyway people are trying to get up a petition for carlton tv to convince them to think again.

The Prisoner (R2 UK) was off a new 35mm inter-positives. Quality was let down by poor encoding.
You would have thought the marketing department at Carlton would see releasing the original two series as a good way of advertising the upcoming third series. :(

I had a feeling Auf.... was 'filmed' on video. I seem to remember reading somewhere that it's more difficult to restore than film.

The new series is being produced by a rival station, the BBC, so maybe this is a contributing factor! These DVDs will probably see the light of day (as well as an ITV rerun) after letting the BBC advertise THEIR product.
They know it makes sense.
