We have just watched
The Dish
and its not about babes. well I cannot understand how I have never heard anything about this movie.
What a well made film this is, a must see, no fancy surround sound, but a film with a great story, and the whole cast, should get a pat on the back.
there is a scene, playing the national anthems, that must go down as a comedy classic.

I agree, it's a very good film. It was released on about 200 screens back in May and did quite well but was overshadowed a bit by more conspicuous blockbusters. It's the kind of quality mainstream film that should build up strong word of mouth when it's on video.

Although I obviously can't complain about spoiler warnings in subject headers, might it not have been a good idea to mention which film you were actually talking about before people clicked on the thread? :D
(I'm assuming The Dish doesn't have an alternate title Heart Warming Story!)
Incidentally, I can't recommend The Dish highly enough - and the R4 is 100% definitely the one to go for: it's got as many extras as I've ever come across on a DVD (unlike the embarrassingly bare-bones R1!)

Good Point Micheal,
as you can see the header has now changed.
It was the region 1, that I saw, and had no extras to mention,
but when films are as good as this, I can for once, manage without.
Agree whole heartedly, a very under-rated film which makes you feel all warm and happy inside:)
Agree about the national anthem scene:D and isn't that young dish of a girl from Neighbours, one of the boy and girl twins me recollects.

agreed. It's one of those movies that just makes you grin like an idiot for 90 mins.
:D
The film did O.K at the U.K box office but i think it came out the same week as Bridger Jones Diary so it got lost in that films hype.
I also recomend 'The Castle' an earlier film from the makers of 'The Dish.' which is just as good if not better.

Agreed the film is great, but the region 4 extras are exceptional. I've not listened to the 2 commentaries yet, but the NASA archive material is fascinating.
