Will Matrix R4 play on R2 only player??

I've just bunged my R4 copy in my PS2 & got the old "Can't be played due to regional constrictions" so it looks like it's R4 only! :(
If it's any consolation, the Gladiator is dual R2/R4 encoded, so you'll have no problems with that.

nope it's a village roadshow release and they are all R4 encoded only

You should really check this stuff out before you bought the disc, shouldn't you?

Looks like you'll have to flog the R4 and get the European R2 disc. :( :D ;)

Errr.. Is this comment aimed at me Paul? I use my DVDrom drive to watch films on, not my PS2, I was just using that to see if the Matrix would play on a R2 only player! Rest assured I am not stupid enough to buy a R4 disc without knowing for certain that I could play it. I should have made it more clear in my original post I guess.

You didn't say that you were just testing in your original post, so I thought your PlayStation 2 was your only equipment you watched DVDs on.
