I liked both these movies but for some reason have held off buying the first one. With rush hour 2 being released soon I noticed it is going to under the infinifilm range. Will the 1st one be re-released as an infinifilm and/or will the two be released as a box set?
ta da!
answers on a postcard......
the 1 film is feature packed as it so a re-release as an infinifilm title would be pointless. Nothing annouced for a boxset so just buy the titles as they are plus the 1st one if a snapper case and the 2nd film will be amaray
Doubt it, as the fella above said. Rush Hour 1 is a kick ass release, if it was a barebones release then they'd probably consider re-releasing it as a two discer but i don't think that many people would upgrade.
Buy them both seperatly, they're kick ass films

Im gonna wait until the R2 release of Rush Hour 2 I think - like with 15 minutes, another infinifilm release, the R2 was superior. Would be interesting to see if Blow will be the same. I also noticed Enemy At The Gates is receiving a superior release - so its not all doom and gloom for R2.

i'd prefer R1 but if the R2 is EiV (think it is) it'll probably be 9.99 after a couple of months
i think i'll be buying the R1 versions of both Rush Hour and Rush Hour 2.
I already own the region 2 version of Rush Hour but EiV cocked it up by not putting any burnt in subtitles during the non english speaking parts which REALLY got on my nerves
[
For me the R1 versions of Rush Hour 2.
sound - DTS ES 6.1
My DENON AVR 3801 Dts ES 6.1 receiver will Rock
I already own the region 2 version of Rush Hour.

you of course mean DTS ES 6.1 Discrete, right? seeing as "DTS ES" is 5.1 (not 6.1) despite having monaural rear centre information matrixed into the rear surrounds.
sorry to be a pedant (and one with no surround setup!), but there seems to be a lot of misunderstanding one the forums (and in general) as to the differences between the different sounds 'systems' and this could have lead to further confusion.

I think someone's slipped on from homecinemachoice.com by mistake.
I call DD EX 6.1, cos it comes out of 6 speakers. Magazines used to refer to pro-logic sometimes as 4.0 (no-one seemed to care before that they were matrixed. So why does everyone become so pedantic about 6.1 - jeesh.:p

no, hence my bothering to point out that i have no surround setup at all, let alone one supporting the very latest sound systems. so i am not an 'audiophile'.

so if you had two subwoofers in your system you'd call it 6.2? fair enough in one sense - call it whatever you like, but i can't understand this desire to be slack with standards. especially when everyone is (quite rightly) so concerned about standards when it comes to the picture - e.g. making sure everyone understands the term "anamorphic". it's all very well understanding all the terminology yourself and then being vague with it, but this can only serve to spread misinformation amongst the less technically-savvy (this was me on the audio front until a couple of weeks ago).
i'm simply advocating consistency while pointing out that such differences as mentioned above should be important to non-audiophiles as well.

Not sure if its much use to you, but I noticed a load of copies of the first Rush Hour film going for 9.99 in our local Woolies yesterday :)
Take a look, as nearly every Woolworths I've been in has this going for just under a tenner - top film too!

sorry for hijacking the thread everyone.
Pro Logic is 4.0 because it has 4 specific signals - front left, front right, centre and mono rears. Even though they are matrixed, 4 signals. Saying it was 2.0 stereo (because there are only 2 discrete channels) would be misleading.
DD EX has a signal specific to the rear speaker(s) - so is 6.1 whether 1 or 2 rear back speakers. Whether the rear channel is discrete or not, there is specific information which is supposed to be heard at the back of the room.
I'm just confused as to why some magazines have become so pedantic about 6.1 meaning only discrete. 6.1 matrix has a signal to the back rears, extra signal to me equals extra channel = 6.1 channels of sound.

I also picked up a copy for 9.99 from my local HMV last week.
DTS 5.1 mean 5.1
DTS ES mean DTS-ES Discrete 6.1 OR DTS-Matrix 6.1
e.g. Region 1 Gladiator DTS-ES Discrete
Region 1 Terminator 2 DTS-ES Matrix
Region 1 Cast Away DTS-ES Matrix
U will not know what it is untill ur amp show DTS Matrix or DTS Discrete
IN MATRIX MODE. SURROUND BACK LEFT + RIGHT = BACK CENTRE
IN Discrete MODE. SURROUND BACK CENTRE IS PURE
THIS IS DTS ES ^ ^ ^
IN DTS 5.1 SURROUND BACK CENTRE IS NOT USED.
THANKS
