See here (http://www.ananova.com/entertainment/story/sm_844160.html?menu=) -- could be a lot of fun.

Not sure what I'd plump for: if it's UK sitcoms only, either Rising Damp or Only Fools and Horses.... probably.

Wonder if Russ Abbot's 'Married For Life' (uk version of - Married With Children) will get a mention.

Another one for Fawlty Towers here.

And then mayber The Office.

Anyone want to run a sweep as to how many ITV shows will get in? I'll take one (Rising Damp).

I'd like to see The Gaffer in there somewhere. Trouble is the award will probably go to some diatribe of codswallop such as My Family (an award winner don't forget) or even worse Absolutely Fabulous.

Don't get your hopes up about this.....

My vote would go to Yes (Prime) Minister. Seems to get overlooked in the general debates over sitcoms but in my view contained everything a sitcom should and went beyond, and also adapted real political whispers into the story. Fantastic show from start to finish. :notworthy

the second series maybe could have been stronger, and it might not have the massive episode list of others, but i hope Father Ted is rated highly .. its an all out classic of British comedy :)

I voted for a bunch of shows including Only Fools And Horses but when i submitted it the results said i had voted for Only When i Laugh instead. A friend submitted a list and got the same result. I hope they fixed that or we can expect OWIL to rank unfairly highly.

most of the people i know of my age (18-22) who've seen coupling really really like it. my housemate and i watched all 3 series' within about a week recently. sure they rely on the same jokes all the time but jeff (not reappearing :( ) is such a great character, it doesn't matter if everyone else is utter tosh.

the american version was horrific mind.

black books, spaced for my choices over the last few years.

red dwarf, fawlty, bottom, father ted, blackadder prolly being my other favorites. don't mind a bit of ab fab either, sometimes can be really funny.

Yeah, true that... I've only just started watching the repeats on BBC2 over the last couple of weeks- and it's, quite simply, fantastic! One of the funniest sitcoms I've seen for years- especially that episode with the girl from Israel

Fawtly Towers of Only Fools and Horses will win though- it's pretty obvious tbh...

EDIT: Nobody's mentioned The Royle Family, Phoenix Nights of the League of Gentlemen yet- all of them are classic comedy

what a joke the programme was. OFAH won predicatably .. Blackadder should have won IMHO as they knew when to end it i.e. at the top :)

Also, this idea of 'ambassadors' selling thee favourite comedy was BBC2 at its worst. It was cheap and it was tacky and the people who write/act in those top ten comedies were no where to be seen

Cheap, tacky, crash TV... and it was on BBC2
:suspect:
