View Full Version : So what do you think is "officially" the worst film of the past 4-7 years...

Well according to Metacritic we have a joint winner and it's.................... (http://www.metacritic.com/film/lowscores.shtml)

Have to agree with the selection in the Top 50 that I've seen, Battlefield Earth, Avengers, Freddy Got Fingered...
though Showgirls had it's moments:nuts:

But it was 1hr26m.

You can't go around saying things like that.

You'll get this forum in a right state. People will be asking which version you've seen. And 'is the extra 34 mins good?'

Think man, think.

Lol he's a good a point but saying that I think the 'The Blair Witch Project. Why did I waste two hours of my life on this steaming pile?' might give away the answer to that question.

I've said it before and I'll say it again.

You lot need to stay in more. Men in White is without a doubt the worst film ever.

HighlanderTM
28-11-2003, 21:06
Dungeons And Dragons because it is nothing more than a well-photographed tv movie.

Battlefield Earth because of Roger Christian's bouts of delusions of competence, i.e "This film will one day be seen alongside Blade Runner and Star Wars."

Judge Dredd because some of the finest above-the-line talent and Danny Cannon STILL produced a turkey...

Oh, I did think. I only put two hours rather than, say, ten hours, which was what forcing myself to watch it to the bitter end in the (ultimately erroneous) expectation that it had to improve at some point felt like.

Oh man I totally agree with the number 1 worst film on that list. I always said that Biodome was my worst ever movie.

My friend bought that on dvd and actually found it funny. I was in utter disbelief.

I think some of the movies that most people don't like are alright...namely Kung Pow (hilarious!) and Freddy Got Fingered.

How wrong was I? :brickwall And if that was not the worst thing, I actually sat through the whole thing thinking it had to get better. Cavemen in Harriers, need I say more?

Although honourable mention should be made to Liberty Stands Still. A woman (Liberty) is kept chained to a hotdog stand in a park with a sniper (Wesley Snipes) threatening to kill her and launching a 2 hour assault on the US gun culture. Ironic when you consider he is holding her at gunpoint! Forum members warned it was bad, but like a sucker I went ahead and rented it! It has put me off renting Phone Booth for fear it will be as bad.

I actually don't mind Battlefield Earth. It was as dumb as a shoe and i wouldn't pay to see it (borrowed it off a mate) but i've seen far, far worse movies.

It's "famous movie" syndrome. Ask people what the worst film of all time is and they'll invariably mention something that is a notorious critical or commercial failure. There are always going to be loads of really bad films that no-one has heard of and therefore don't get a mention.

And for the record, I thought Blair Witch 2: The Book of Shadows wasn't all that bad.

Freddy vs Jason was ace! What's not to love about it? It was an extremely neat distilling of all the key elements of a slasher, while ending up with an awesomely bloody fight sequence between the two big boys themselves.

I'd have to nominate the truly appalling Where The Heart Is - a film with Natalie Portman and Ashley Judd that brings new meanings to the words "incoherent" and "sappy".

True...

And also, how the hell can anybody say that, for example, Magnolia is amongst the worst films of the past 4 - 7 years? I mean, I hated Lord of the Rings- but I'd much sooner watch that than most of the junk out there.

Another vote for Battlefield Earth.

I loved the book and tried to avoid the film as long as possible due to poor reviews. Finally bought for a "bargain" price of £5 thinking that it couldn't be as bad as folk say. Now I don't think I could ever read the book again due to its association to this film.

Yeah, even if you don't like the film- surely you're intelligent enough to see that it's much better than, say- Speed 2 or something. This thread basically has people naming films they have a particular grudge against. I bet if Boogie Nights/Magnolia/whatever weren't such critical successes they wouldn't have been named...
