how come no banter about this release ?

i think it is an excellent 2 disc set.

this is the 1st time i watched the film properly and i think it is actually quite good, when you get to the final scenes and Bruce Lee steps on, it sends shivers down your spine, its like a giant build up.

the 40 minute edit has got to be the best extra ever !! it is better than the the film itself (even though i like it a lot). Nunchuku fight is amazing !

didnt realise the story wasnt what Lee intended, if he had completed it, GOD would have been a masterpiece.

Legacy of the Dragon nearly made me cry :)

I wasnt gonna bother with Game of Death but Play dropping the price down to £14.99 + the fact that people keep hailing it as HKL best effort so far has made me part with my money.
I dont think I'll bother with the 1st disc though, I'll jump straight to disc 2.:D

I only got this today so I will watch it soon, although ive seen it many times before as I used to own the entire Bruce Lee collection on VHS (cut I might add :) )

I remember when people first got theres a week or so ago, ppl where moaning about the case - I dont understand what all the fuss is about - seems perfect to me, just like an amaray with a disc holder at each side of the case.

Today however Ive been watching a couple of hilarious HK gems; Born Invincible and Sleeping Fist...the former is just brilliant, a rediculous plot, no character development and basically non-stop fighting - how all martial arts films should be :)

The film's total pants.

The only reason I bought it was for the Bruce Lee material, HKL have to be applauded for their efforts

And remember that the first disc contains the totally excellent Bey Logan commentary track - don't miss it

Not sure about the case myself, fotunately though it was a rattler no damage was done to the disks.
The actual film is a bit pants imo, his sunglasses seem to get bigger as the film goes on :D
The 40 minute revisited featurette is superb, just makes you wish he'd been around to complete the film. Not seen all the extras yet, but the second disk makes this set well worth the money.

The case used seems to be a revamped scano case(if people have MIB:SE, they'll know). Jaws of death by some people, the new clear type HKL have used don't have joints from the centre to the outer pins, so there's less stress when taking the disc out (no snapping on the centre of disc). OK case, but amaray might've been better it seems. And possibly HKL could've put a small booklet in aswell ;)

But on a whole, a pleasant package for a crap film. Watched 5 minutes of the film and laughed my a*** off, so I turned to the 40 minute edit, because I couldn't bear it. :D

Although its a little late my (hopefully) comprehensive review is now up on DVDTimes - see signature for link.

Agree with everyone here really, poor film that is saved by the extras (although I quite like the fight sequences in the film too).

BTW has anybody got the R4 A Warriors Journey? Just wondered how different it was to HKL GOD and if it was worth getting as well. I mean it's only around £10 from Devoted or Crave :)

Excellent review kanedaa.
Even better than the almost official HKL BulletsnBabes website review.

superb package for a shockin film though as bey logan points out i found the hollywood style a lot easier to watch than many of the early Lee movies.
I love the action but most of the stories and plots are just framework for Bruce Lee fight scenes.
Love the 40 min edit just plain old bruce lee action as intented,
Warners have another release available any reviews of it not sure of title?

Well I hadn't seen GOD for about 10 years & I always rembered it as one of the worst movie experiences of my life, but I watched it again last night & thought it was a fun film. The trick to liking this film is to not think of it as a serious thriller/martial arts flick (which it is clearly trying it's best to be) but as a comedy with some excellent fighting set pieces! The opening scene in Billy Lo's dressing room is absolutely hilarious! Trust me, get your mates round, buy the beer 'n' pizzas & just treat the film like a very funny bad movie. You won't be dissappointed with it.

I think HKL's decision to release this as a Platinum Edition is a stroke of genius, because a bad film with an audio commentary + a few deleted scenes is not a tempting prospect, no matter how unintentionally funny the film is. However, couple that disc with a disc which is full to bursting with info on the great one & it's an essential purchase. As you said in your review Dave, if you're a fan of Bruce Lee, you've got to want to buy this DVD.

Can ye polish a turd? It seems that HKL can turn **** into gold!! (Or should that be Platinum?)

BTW A Warrior's Journey has a better version of the GoD footage - it's edited tighter has better foley work as well as music.

The HKL (actually Artport's) edit chose some inferior takes and made an absolute pigs ear out of the editing order on Kareems level.
