Now that I have your attention! -
I was intrigued by the thread discussing how you guys with the big collections get around the problems of DVD storage.
It prompted the question - How many times have you actually watched each disc? I know in my collection of nearly 200, I can honestly say there's only a couple I've watched more than twice and would readily watch again at this point in time. This doesn't mean that I don't like the discs in my collection, only there's not enough time to support repeat viewings. So whats the point in going for a big one??? This is not intended as a dig at anybody - just curiosity.

I have 'bout 170....

I just enjoy collecting....something my partners parents hate. 'Why buy a film, once you've seen..blah blah'

However for me films for me are, as stupid as it sounds, something to guage my life and history.....if that makes sense..:D

I have about 90 titles now and I can say that there a few titles that I have watched multiple times such Saving Private Ryan, The Rock, The Mummy.

But to be honest, the majority have had only one viewing but only because I just would not have the time to get through them all again and again, plus the fact I have new ones arriving all the time makes it impossible to watch every DVD a few times.

Hmm.. I've got around 120, with about 40? put by for xmas, and I've probably watched most of them 20+ times (unless I've only just recieved them in the last few weeks), and some (Lebowski/Rocky Horror/The Beyond, quite a few others) around 50 times.

Yes, i have a LOT of time on my hands.

I'm not counting.
It's around 250-300, and 2/3 I have watched more than once. A select dozen has seen my hollowed player more than 5 times. Usually I'll watch any Hong Kong DVDs I get 2-3 times in the first week (with the exeption of Shaolin Soccer, which got watched 5 times in under 4 days :D ).

But this year, with me starting Uni (again, after the failure that was last year), I'm gonna make sure I watch less.

I've got about 540 and I've seen a quarter of them 3-4 times, and another 2 quarters 1-2 times with the last quarter not seen yet at all, some are still sealed, I have about 25 DVDs sealed right now heh.
But it's good to have anything you could ever want to see, I can proudly say I havent been to blockbuster or any other rental store since august 1999 or so.
Of course everyone has 10-20 DVDs that they always watch over and over, and so do i, some, like Fifth Element, Mean Guns & Hurlyburly been watched over 7 times in theaters and another 25 on DVD :D

I think that i have watched approx 1/4 of my discs more than twice. At the moment i have around 100 discs and can honestly say that if i want to sit and watch a flick, i have serious trouble finding something!!! I don't know if any one else has this problem, but i can just look at all the DVDs and find nothing that i want to watch !!!! It is the same with my 300+ CD collection ..sometimes there are times where i have nothing that i want to listen to.

I suppose this is where the drive to buy more DVDs/CDs comes from, the need for something more than you have.

Thanks to DVDProfilers I know that I now have over 200 DVDs and, well, I certainly don't boast about have a large one ( :p ) but I am proud of my collection.

Sure, many haven't been watched more than once or twice, but then several have been watched dozens of times (and like Mr.Vampire my HK DVDs get the most use) but the main reason I keep all of them is that a) I hate to part with something I own and b) I like em all and its nice to have the choice so that one day you may wake up and think - i'm gonna watch x film today :)

The only DVDs I question regularly are TV-Series - for small 20min shows like Simpsons/South Park etc I wish they'd put more than 4 eps to a disc as it makes choosing the disc really hard! and then 45min eps like X-Files are just long, especially with 26 to a series I often wonder if i'll EVER get round to watching them again!

I got a solution to that.
those 20 min ones, like Friends, I watch when I just want to eat a sandwitch and head out somewhere, or when I just dont have much time, or whatever, its a nice funny 20 mins.
Then if I'm having a full meal then 45 min shows like X Files/Farscape/Stargate is good to watch.
Full movies I reserve for 1-2 am or so when I can just watch the whole thing and then a few hours of extras that some have till 6am.

I've got about 420 now & I don't judge their worth by how many times I've watched them.

I love my big one, & I love watching it expand. :D

Call me old fashioned but have you ever thought about 'sleep'?

well, it's the same as books innit? having a bookshelf full of books is very common.. but it doesn't mean you read them all over and over again.

just my 2p's worth.
