View Full Version : Dead Ringers Criterion is officially out of print!
The new 2002 Criterion catalogue, included in next Tuesday's releases, Dead Ringers is now deleted, so it might be a good time to pick up a copy.
DVDFile has also reported this.
So, I wonder what we'll be seeing relentlessly on the Classifieds over the next few months? :D
thought it went oop last year and was difficult to get even then?

For what it's worth:
Dead Ringers has been released over here, with a transfer licensed from Carlton (making use of the transfer of their UK release - I guess) and with the extras licensed from Criterion. I don't know what the quality of this disc is, or even the quality of the transfer on the UK disc, but there you go.

If it is OOP I expect you'll still be able to get it from a lot of places - for example, you can still find Robocop & Unbearable Lightness of Being if you look around.
Might want to snap it up before the price rockets though.
Woo Hoo!
Another DVD on my shelf suddenly leaps £20 in value!
:)
what does OOP mean..?
The rights on this film have now reverted to Warner Bros.
From DVDFile.com:
Attention Criterion Collection collector's, add another one to the "now discontinued" list. With home video rights now reverting to Warner, the Criterion Collection edition of David Cronenberg's Dead Ringers, complete with plenty of extras, as well as the movie-only Anchor Bay release, are now out of print for the foreseeable future. No word on if and when Warner will release their own version, but given the scarcity of Criterion supplements on non-Criterion DVD releases, don't expect it to include any of the same extras. Stay tuned.

What's it about anyway, is it any good? I've watched the trailer on IMDB, seems ...uh, yucky. I don't really like to watch operations on humans, is there lots of that in it?
I do love Lost Highway and eXistenZ though.
Well if gynaecologists obsessing over female genitalia mutations isn't your bag... :D
Over to you, Mr Brooke. (http://www.dvdtimes.co.uk/reviews/other/deadringers.html)
To be honest, you might as well pick it up, because it'll be easy to trade/sell it on in the Classifieds.
