I read before on this forum that BBC's DVD picture quality aren't great full of artefacts since they were shot using video!?!
Anyone seen these yet? What's the picture quality like?

I haven't seen the Fawlty Towers DVDs yet, but it's totally unrealistic to expect a flawless picture from 25-year-old material shot on a mixture of video (interiors) and 16mm (exteriors) on a decidedly low budget. It looked ropey enough the last time it was broadcast!
Personally, I'm buying it for the script and acting, not the transfer.

The fact that it looks so cheap and nasty just adds to its charm. :)
Love the way the walls shake in some scenes, and the green smears (technical term ;)) that appear sometimes.
I think the picture is very good, considering the age of the program.
Certainly much better than the picture on Planes Trains and Automobiles, that I watched yesterday.
Terrible.
Have to agree with Mr Brooke on this, plus my very old VHS copies are very well worn.

Series 2, from what I've seen so far, is fine; nothing exceptional, but certainly a bit better than VHS quality. The 2 discs were a bit of a surprise, however!
