I'm sure I'm not going mad but didn't DVDTimes run a news feature saying that there was going to be a special 2 disk version of this on R2???

I just checked out play247 and on their site the R1 version appears to be a better bet that the R2 version....

Anyone any advice???

Thanks,

M.

There is a special two-disc version in R2 - I have a copy, and it's as good as can possibly be imagined. Our very own Cap'n Al goes into more detail here.

Unfortunately, though, there's a slight linguistic drawback for those who don't speak French - need I go on? :D

I've heard that the R1/R2 versions are going to be the same as the French version; however, I've also heard that the 5.1 track is going to be downgraded to stereo, and that the fantastic animated menus are going to be ditched.

Excellent film as well, but if you've seen the dubbed version, you've missed out on a lot...

Ahhh nooo.... I want a french 5.1 soundtrack......

The article that I posted above though indicated that the R2 version to be released on the 26th Nov is 2 disc as well :(

Guess not then huh.....

So which version to go for (since my French speaking is limited!!)?

Was it just me, or did that ending REALLY suck?

Alright, now I'm really confused....

it appears that the R2 DVD is a 2 disk set.... at least its displayed as so on Blackstar

Must just be Play247 that havn't got the info right...

still... its a bit of a bargin at £14.99 for a 2 disk set... think I'll keep my pre-order with play :)

yes - it really did. At least with the behind the scenes they admit the films overall failings!

Can anyone confirm or deny that the french soundtrack is in DD5.1? All the online-shops I checked list it as DD2.0, but one guy over at DVDTalk claims it has DD5.1? Is there a decent review of the R1 online somewhere?

Cheers

Cool. :)

A&BSound seem to be the cheapest, but it is out of stock there ?? Nevermind, I've got a backlog of DVDs to watch. :)

I'm gonna wait for the region 2 UK 2-Disk set....

Under-18 have got it list for the 3rd december (£16.99) so I'm guessing this will be the same as the R2 French SE disk but with english subtitles....

I read your quote Colin
I don't have access to my DVD right now but both reviews I've read (supra), and I hope they're incorrect, say that the director's commentary track is in French with no subtitles available. I hope this is NOT the case, and that there is some way to access commentary subtitles, because all of the other special features have subtitles included
Just wanted to check if the reviews you'd mentioned were correct, unfortunately it looks as though they are.
Thanks for the help, Paul.
