Heard two tracks by these... and... WOW.

I need albums, thought I'd go for "Whitesnake" first... but then I saw a Best Of... then a Silver Anniversary Collection.... then a Live album

Which to go for then?

My fave classic Whitsnake albums are Ready An' Willing (1980) & Come An' Get It (1981). I also have a soft spot for the live album Live In The Heart Of The City.

Later stuff like Saints & Sinners, 1987 & Slide It In, aren't too bad either. I haven't heard any of the above for a looong time so I might have to dig them out and see how they've aged.

Just avoid anything from 1987 onwards, hairmetal sub zeppelin riffing tosh. (Actually I say this but I gave up on them after this, maybe Coverdale went back to his roots on later albums, I dont know)
The earlier stuff though was great (although some of the lyrics were quite  )

Get the Greatest Hits album.

Then, you can see which era you prefer and get the albums. Simple really.

(Personally, i prefer the later stuff....)

First band I ever saw live (1981) :notworthy

As already mentioned by kohoutec, the best stuff was pre 1987 when they did classic Rock/Blues

What were the 2 tracks you heard ??

I've heard "Still of the Night", and "Here I Go Again". Just heard "Slide it In" which I liked and "Wine, Women An' Song" which I'm not too fond of.

Just make sure you get the version with 'You're gonna break my heart again'.A fine track indeed.

1987 was definately the turning point, although including your missus in the videos and looking uncanily like Robert Plant isn't necessarily a reason to dislike them

1987 made Mr Coverdale more money then he could imagine ,so after that he stuck to the same formula and lost most of his old hardcore fans - shame as they were a great band.

Hi,

I saw WhiteSnake in arround 1983, It is one of the most memrable concers I ever went to for two reasons, Firstly may mate Barry fainted just before 'Aint No Love In The Heart Of The City and secondly, the Cheesiest into ever and I quote

" I don't know what I've been drinking tonight but I've got a hair in my throat"

You just never forget that kind of stuff.
