Had Sky+ a month now, its not very reliable is it ?
I've had to reset the system several times now. Which is the same thing the always tell you to do if you ring to tell them about the issue....

First the failed recordings from BBC1, then the dodgy sound on movies broadcast in DD and nos this week I have several recordings that appear to have recorded but when you play them they are just silent blank screens all the way through (either all black or all blue)

Anybody else having this problem this week ??

I've yet to suffer any problems in 8 weeks of ownership....

I'd give them a call while the box is still in warranty. Sounds like a problem with the reception, maybe the engineer knocked the dish or it's become mis-aligned?. At the very least they'll refund you some $ for the month.

Problems seem confined to the new V2 boxes.Had my V1 for 2 years without any problems, although the DD sound is not a Sky+ problem, its down to a transmission problem

only had a problem once when i lost the end of a program, apparently because it lost the signal - but the weather was a bit crap so i can accept that. Otherwise it's all been good.

Will give them another ring then. it doesn't happen on every thing I record, but this new problem has just started happening this week...

Had mine for 1 1/2 years now and the only bug is the reset if you leave it on CBeebies after 7 o clock. No failed recordings, no missed ones. Couldn't be happier!

over at digi spy they are talking about it people who dont even have 5.1 had the dropouts and this was only on the main showing, most say the multi start showings were ok, methinks its a bandwith issue with them last night

Well managed to get through to them tonight -
Tried every day since Friday to be answered with "your call will be answered within 35 mins" .. yeah right..

Bearing in mind it was a sky drone taking the call (albeit one of there tech support drones) take the following with a pinch of salt..
But this is the answers I got tonight

1 - They are awre of the BBC problem and are investigating althuogh they seem to be blaming the fact that the BBC now transmits from another satelite. (As the guy mentioned to me at least 6 or 7 times during the call)

2 - They have had a few calls about the Toomani issue where Star Wars Clone Wars are in the planner and are deleted mysteriously from the planner - they have no idea what is causing it.

3 - The blank recordings (when you try and play something back its just all either a dark blue or a black screen for the entirity of the program - no image/no sound) - They have not got a clue..

4 - They are "aware" of the DD issue, but he kept stating that if the sound settings are set to normal and not DD on the box the sound should be totally ok. He couldn't grasp that what he was saying was total BS. I have always had mine set to normal and it still happens. I do have proof tho - a recording of Star wars from saturday night with it happening..

Just got to wait until sat 29th november for an engineer now to arrive and confirm what I already know....

Erm, isn't DD one of the main selling points of SKY+ ? I know it was for me, if an engy suggested to me that I change the settings to stereo just so it was ok, i'd have cancelled the service there and then. Somethings definately up, the service i've had is nowhere near as bad as what you've had.

My box has been fine except for the remote sensor. I have found since I have upgraded to + I really have to point the remote straight at the sensor - anyone alse experienced this? could it be due to the frosted style covering to the remote sensor on the v2 box?

Yes I have had this, but I found that after my IR extender for my Philips videosender had been repositioned out the way it was OK. It seems anything placed on or near the front of the Sky+ box seriously degraded the IR sensor performance.

The IR sensor isn't as good as my old Panni.

well had a sky bod around today and he knew his stuff, makes a change from the usual drivel sky send out in their vans.
The dish was out of alignment by about an inch from when it was installed originally by the sub contracted independent installer.

Was getting around 50% signal strength but now its up to 80/90% on all of them.

This should cure the problems relating to recording, not the sound issue. Sky are still "working on it" he said. He also did not know when dual record was going live,, there are more issues with it now and it will be 2004 sometime..

Glad to hear you got it sorted Sooky. I had a problem with the normal Sky service about 2 years ago and they sent me a man who knew what he was doing. Let us know how the drop-outs go now as I am thinking of getting Sky+ soon but am worried about the problems.

I've had my Sky + box since they were first released (about 2 years or so ? ) and apart from losing a few links due to MTV and Channel 5 not knowing how to program the planner i've never had a problem (touch wood) and i use it every day.

I've had v2 box since the start of the year and apart from the odd forgotten links and the box simply turning itself off every now and again, no real problems.
