View Full Version : Is using CDR/DVDR etc bad for the laser?
Got my Pioneer DV-360 yesterday and it can play CDR/DVDR etc which my other player could never do, so I made a VCD of some wrestling matches and skate clips and they played fine. But I just thought that using CDR's etc might be bad for the laser, is this the case? Or would it only be damaging if you used them all day everyday?
cheers,
shenbop
There is some talk going around that a non cdr drive does have to work harder to read cdr disks...no idea if there is any truth in this, esp with the latest generation of players.
It was more likely a problem with the bad manufactuing of the original cdr's.
Thanks for the info. It's just that I have a spindle of jungle.com 's own brand CDR and i'm guessing they are probably not exactly the highest quality you can get so was a bit worried about using them to play my music on through my dvd player. Anyone else got any idea? What I was also thinking was that the Pioneer was built to read cdr etc so maybe its not bad for it at all
