About to have some building work started which is going to leave 2 rooms of the house without central heating radiators for a few months.

I had considered a couple of those plug in portable oil filled radiators as a good temporary solution until we work out where we want the permanent centrally heated rads to go.

Anyone recommend make or model and place to buy - Argos seem to have loads but any advice on what would be best value for money would be great. The total space we need heated is approx 6.5m x 4m with regular 2.5m'ish height ceilings and ideally I would want something I could switch on and leave on with a themostat to regulate when it came on.

Any help appreciated!

We got a couple of DeLonghi ones from Argos (http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10001&langId=-1&catalogId=1001&productId=53070) a year or so back and they are excellent. Te rooms are a bit smaller than the ones you have so you may need a slightly higher power model

We also got a Delonghi one, the same one as GregB links to at Argos, again the room we used it in was a bit smaller than yours, but we never had to turn the radiator up very high, and it soon warmed up the room, thermostat keeps the temperature okay and the timer is usefull so you can make the radiator go off and on just like you would with a normal heating system.

thanks guys - would you say that the one you had would be sufficient for a room of the size I mentioned?

At a guess I would say yes but as it's Argos you have the 14 day return guarante. You could buy one test it out for a few days and if it's not adequate take it back and exchange for a higher powered one.
