View Full Version : Pirates of the Caribbean - does R1 have DTS?
Hi - I notice that DVDSoon have Pirates... listed as having a DTS soundtrack alongside the DD one. Any other sites I've checked have it listed as having a PCM soundtrack alongside the DD.
Anyone know which is correct?
cheers,

Pirates of the Carribean does indeed have DTS soundtrack for Region 1 - Disney's own website was updated around 4 weeks ago, and the page now shows it as being ENGLISH DTS & DD5.1, THX mastered - French Sound has been removed and just substituted to being French Subtitles.
Go HERE (http://disneyvideos.disney.go.com/moviefinder/products/3166303.html) for all the OFFICIAL details, disc specs are at the very bottom on the right of the page)

Great, thanks chris.quiksilver, cheapy dvdsoon route for me then.
I`d be careful with that. Even in the states nobodz knows about this. yes Disney write DTS on their site but every single press release says 5.1 only!!! I'd wait for the first reviews to come out before buying it. Unless you want the dvdsoon one for cheap price and not necessarily for DTS.

Does this mean that, in terms of content and sound, R1 and R2 are the same ??

Looks like the Japanese release is getting DTS-ES ie. 6.1
Might be the one to go for...
John..
Oddly, I received my R1 copy yesterday and my amp shows it as having both DD-EX and DTS-ES soundtracks even though the menu just shows 5.1 mixes!
