Who's seen this ? Found it on the Fright Fest 2001 site last night, followed it up on IMDB and then found it for pence at dddhouse. Sounds seriously creepy. Worth a punt ?

I was thinking about getting this myself. Anyone seen it?

Yeah, its a good movie... Very nasty in some places...

I'm not quite sure how many times you'd want to watch it though...

Saw it at the Cambridge Film Festival and went home really disappointed. It's honestly not very good. I've seen it tagged as a spiritual sequel to Audition, presumably because (a) it's Asian and (b) features some really unpleasant goings-on but that's as far as it goes. It lacks the resonance and, frankly, the quality of the other films in the nu-Asian horror boom that it keeps getting lumped in with. In fact, it's disingenuous to label it a horror movie at all. It's really an Ai No Corrida style story of intense passion, and a rather boring one at that.

If you can pick it up dirt cheap then it's worth it for the most unpleasant scene I've ever seen (or rather scenes - both involving... nah, I won't spoil it) but otherwise save your pennies

Thanks, JPMO - most comprehensive. Might just lump it in with me battle Royale order ... (Now that would be a grim package ... maybe I should play safe with Shaolin Soccer ... mmm ...)

Do get it, its well worth watching. Great atmosphere, some very graphic moments as well as some black humour.

The film I think tends to polarise opinions. I liked it. I know several people who hated it. It's not as gruesome as some folks make out though.

In terms of the r3 DVD, I picked it up from DDDHouse and, despite only having trailers as extra's, I thought it a good buy. Image quality and audio are both fine, though the subs seemed a bit different from the ones in the cinema.
