Totally disagree.

His Weird Weekends were awesome, but the Louis Meets were excellent too.

Real insight into the lives of some of our more 'colourful' celebs. The only one I think could have been better was the Hamiltons one, but that wasn't really Louis' fault - the show got hijacked by events. And even then I found it fascinating.

They were all memorable for very different reasons. Keith Harris' bitterness, Eubank's outrageous eccentricity, Jimmy Saville's sinister side etc. Think my favourite was the Anne Widdicombe one although I have no idea why - think it might be because althoguh I cannot abide the woman's politics, after watching that I was amazed to learn she actually was human... And interesting.

Louis rules. My Tivo is whirring away taping tonight's safe in the knowledge I'll love it :)

Hey dont get me wrong - I worship at his temple...and the one-off meets were superb stuff! I just didn't feel the recent series had the same charm or wit.

Either way, tonights episode was fascinating stuff...

$200 for a massage?
i guess thats where my parent's license fee is going?

it was good
all the prostitutes seemed a bit messed up though
and the clients come to think of it

I enjoyed that a lot, great to see Louis back on our screens. Not sure it warranted 80 mins sans ad breaks though, thats quite a length of time, and I'm not sure there was enough material to fill it. He's done far more interesting topics in the past more concisely and stylishly.

Anyone get a feeling of Sex And The City-ness when Louis did his 'moral bit' - the voice over about sex and making love half way through? Felt like something Carrie would say :dork:

Well, is it really that surprising that someone who sells their body for a living is messed up?

Have to say, that guy who just wanted to kiss really freaked me out.

I thought it was really interesting, but I didn't feel entirely comfortable watching it. Although perhaps that was the point.

She was a great girl wasn't she. Is it any wonder that she was messed up.

I missed the beginning. What was the split. Assuming the girls made $1000 per night (seems easy on $200 per massage) then that would be (leaving aside nights off) $356,000 per year and if the girls just took half they'd be doing well.

I do hope that Hayley gets a break. Yes I think she did like Louis but I wonder whether she thought he could take her away from there.

Aah, that was really sweet - it seems Louis didn't take much to Hayley as a person, but was very keen on her from a story point of view, but then he was so pleased to see her return towards the end.

I liked Hayley too and was rooting for her to dump ho-ing and get a real life as she seemed the only one there who still had a spark to her.

I think you have a rosey idea of what prostitues make though, even assuming she makes $1000 a night, she probably has to give over $500+ to the Wild Horse's owners.
The way they see it they're introducing her to the clients, giving her a place to earn money and providing room and board.

In the end it's better than working for Tescos, or Kmart, the US equivalent, but no-one gets that rich off ho-ing except the pimps.

Ah, that explains it. Seems like such a money spinner per se but as you say Susan takes the lions share. That $4.5m will be paid off in no time.

Humping hank was indeed a scary dude. I was most disconcerted though by the girl who marketed herself as looking like 12 and the owners seemed quite comfortable with it.

I couldnt quite work out what was going on between Hayley and Louis, my heart bled at the end when Louis was leaving and she was looking after him.

It was a brilliant programme- I couldn't believe it was 80 minutes long tbh!

Very funny it was- Louis Theroux is just able to make fantastic TV out of very little (let's be honest now, a Michael Jackson interview show where he doesn't interview Michael Jackson doesn't sound like it's going to set the world alight). You had to laugh when Louis and his cameraman were talking in the car park: [on the next day's interview with Joe Jackson] "We're going to get shafted". And then, sure enough- he turns up, pockets the $5000, introduces the publicity-starved groups he's managing and then he pishes off!

What Uri Geller was saying about Louis' interview style was very true, I have to say- he had him sussed... "Would you believe me if I said that I haven't got a clue what you're talking about?"

It makes you wonder though- what if it was Louis who spent 6 months with him instead of bashir? It would have been more entertaining, that's for sure. And, ironically, I think it would have been far less biased against Michael Jackson than Bashir's interview (the complete opposite of what Uri said at the beginning of the programme), I would even say it could have shown Wacko in a different light...

Idle Child

Is Louis really this bumbling in real life? Or is it an act in a sort of Ali G way? He must know how his shy eccentric nature comes across and uses it to his advantage to probe where others would take outright offense..

The doc had some amusing moments but was definitely BBC budget in terms of who they could get hold of. What they did spend their money on, they got ripped off with. It was obvious that the Magician and The Father were going to stitch them up and plug their own peculiar brand of Las Vegas entertainment.

That Dad must have been smoking the herbal cos he was docile beyond belief. The Magic Man was very confrontational and extremely rude, and those fans were just :cuckoo:

Uri Geller's a wiley cat weasel ain't he? Wiser to the ways of Louis and completely ruthless, but i found he got his just deserts by being dumped by Wacko. The disappoint in Uri's face was priceless

i like the way the programme also played out like the ultimate request letter to Jackson to let Louis interview him, especially the closing comments in particular.

i for one would have much prefered Jackson to be interviewed with him, i even remember watching the Bashir doc and thinking the same thing... Louis might have that exploitative nature, but i trust and prefer his style and morals in presenting his subjects much more than Bashir.

great show btw, i too loved seeing more of how the programme is put together.

Well, I thought Louis came off really bad, and I'm a fan of his work! Some of it was classic Louis, but I felt that he was way too sneaky and snakey about it all.

Louis should've defended himself when Uri didn't want him to interview Michael, instead Louis just looked disappointed that the idiot, Bashir got the nod.

Going to Debbie Rowe's place

According to that Terry, Michael played with himself whilst on the phone to him? Was that in 93, or when Terry was a kid? :oh-hum:

Kinda agree with Panavision on this.

Louis came across as very bitter about Uri setting Jacko up with Bashir instead of him. Did he really expect Uri to apologise at the end??

And while normally him just being quiet and letting people talk works well in this case it just made him look unprofesional. I could understand why Magical Majestik was getting annoyed at some points. I'm not a journalist but even I had an idea of what he meant by terms & conditions.

Not hugely impressed by this one (and kinda annoyed that $5000 was given to Jacko's dad for a 2 min interview that revealed nothing).

Am I one of the few who wasnt too impressed by this programme? Yes, there were some classic moments (like the straight innocent look on Louis' face when he asks Uri to apologise to him  made me laugh out loud that bit) but overall the program was not really up with the best of Louis.

They knew they were gonna get fleeced by Marvellous Majestyk and Mr Jacko...so why push ahead with in desperation to try and 'better' Martin Bashir??

I did love the bit about Michael's 'boyfriends ... or girlfriends' though

Oh well.

Certainly wasn't Louis's best IMO.

It seemed to revel in the fact that there were some strange people in the Jackson 'entourage', but with MJ the way he is, was it really a surprise?

Missed the bit where Uri Geller had challenged LT about his 'style of interviewing' (as Paul Lynock says above).... what did Geller say exactly?

To me that came across as trying to expose the father and the Magic Minder as blatant homophobes. It was pretty obvious and no need to probe further, but kudos to Louis for persuing the line and of questioning and making them loose what little respect that *may* have gained with the audience.
Louis was probably naively hoping for a "Yes, i wouldn't mind Michael settling down in a stable relationship with either a boy or girl" from the father. I think their un-PC nature shocked Louis.

Uri said that Louis is untrust worthy and would have a heavy bias against Michael (or something like that). Uri was very suspicious of Louis (quite rightly), and they had a brief spat over a "warning" e-mail - a totally geekworthy moment.

I think it takes him so long to make a show, that it might be all we get. He was at the brothel for at least a month, a year or so tracking MJ, so that probably does'nt give him a lot of time for other major projects.

He's probably secretly glad he did'nt get the Bashir job. Just look at what the MJ interview did to Bashir's career

I seem to remember him meeting some anti-black and anti-gay people in america, and they had swastikas and stuff hung up around their homes, but I don't think they said they were bonafide neo-nazis.

The Nazis he speaks to assume he's Jewish, but he doesn't correct them
