I just got SUSPIRIA limited edition, and i am so happy. I think it is a great example of a decent DVD package. Sure it has its flaws,
but i think its great:

-Nice packaging, durable, attractive and conveniant.

-Great movie, supported by great picture and sound quality.

-Great Booklet with essay and interview.

-LOADS of postcards with stills and poster art.

-Nice extras on first disc, i really enjoy trailers/spots when a film is old!

-Excellent documentary on disc 2

-the soundtrack, really nice extra.

It is rare when i am completely satisfied by a new DVD but, this
has really made my day, sure there are the odd problems, but
none that big, i am so glad i got it, it is just a really nice all round
DVD package. What do you guys think?

thanks, dan :D

Yeah, the limited edition rocks!

I remember the day I got the pack in my hands. Heavier than others and the DVD case is nearly of a size of VHS'. I had never seen a triple case before...

The video and audio quality rocks, too. Especially the DTS track blows my mind.

The interview disc is incredibly important, valuable and educative.

The Goblin soundtrack will be good for horrifying nights.

I really want to thank AB once more because of this great job...

Phew, thanks for that. I've got a copy on order through DV-Depot which should be here any day now.

I can't wait!!!

Boink! :D

ps for as long as I could remember I thought the filmwas called "Suspira." Fool that I was...., etc.

It's a nice package, but it's also a fairly cynical marketing exercise.

If you want to see the documentary you are forced to buy the 3 disc set, even if you have no wish to own the soundtrack CD.

The documentary would easily have fitted onto the movie disc with no loss of quality. This would have allowed for two releases, a single disc containing the movie & documentary, and a double pack which included the CD. Of course, if Anchor Bay had done this thay would have made less money.

Oh and 'Wicker Man' is just as bad :(

I wanted to see the documentary as well as the movie, so I bought the LE. I wanted both versions of The Wicker Man (and the lovely box) so I bought the LE. I wanted to have ultra-clean dishes without having to wash them myself, so i bought a dishwasher.

My point?

If you don't like it, don't buy it.

Tis a great little package methinks.

With regards to cynicism towards money grabbing - you could level the same accusation at the majority of Warner & Paramount releases; bare bones & in Warner's case, not even an anamorphic transfer in a fair few cases.

To me that's more of a rip off than paying a little extra for something that's had some care & attention payed to it.

At least Anchor Bay attempt to put additional features on disk, bring back directors for commentary tracks.

And the cost of the disks are reasonable considering some large studios attempt to charge a fortune for back catalog titles with non-anamorphic prints, mono sound and no extras and then release them six months down the line.

Besides with AB titles you may get some money back on them just look at some of the auction sites.

I read in a review (www.horrordvd.com) that the documentary couldnt have fitted onto the first disk, because to fit it on would mean having to reduce the vidoe/audio quality.

I HATE limited edition tins/boxes etc. I like the extra's, but i'm frightend of opening the damn things (i.e. i really want to see a certain film, but if it's worth £100 on ebay next month i'll kick myself). I've got a Maniac Tin (3300/5000) and a canadian Suspira (786/10000) that i'm in 2 minds about opening! HELP! ;)

Well, i had to get that off my chest, i know it's a marketing ploy, but it does affect the way people perceive a release.

Cheers.

I own both Maniac LE Tin and Suspiria LE and trust me, they are worth opening. You will be mesmerised when you see the head shaped bonus soundtrack CD of Maniac LE set. How could you stay calm against a rocking pack of Suspiria LE? Don't you want to see the incredible colors? The Goblin tunes? You should be crazy...

for the price ya pay i think the anchor bay limitededitions are very nice indeed
the wicker man set is excellent a thing of beauty
some of the tins are very lacking compared to the standard edition but they are,for the price, much better value than the criterion collection and id say a far more interesting collection of movies, but thats my opinion.

It's a very nice package, no two ways about it, but no more than this extraordinary film deserved. It's about time someone did it justice.

Must say, however, that I think the artwork used for the regular edition's slick eclipses that used for the LE.

Would you rather behold this...?

Oh, and a track listing for the CD would not have gone amiss either!
