One of the disks didn't work at all on the PSX2 (worked on my AIWA player)

Are you using the latest DVD drivers for the PS2?
If not then this might be your problem, as the lastest drivers seem to fix a lot of the PS2's DVD playback problems. :D

Someone emailed HKL regarding problems of playback on the PS2;

Here's the response...

Thank you for your e-mail.

I am sorry to hear about the problems you are having with Game of Death.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the 2nd Disc on Game of Death. It has been thoroughly tested and is absolutely perfect. The problem lies with the old version of Playstation 2.

If you were lucky enough to have the new version with the updated drivers the 2nd disc would work perfectly. (I have confirmed this with new PS2 users)

Sony are currently including the new drivers with their PS2 remote control unit, which I believe sells at around £19.99.

All we can do as software manufacturers is follow the industry protocol for the manufacture of DVD interactive software, and this we do to the letter. The company who authors our DVDs is the same company who manufacture the 007 Special Editions and all UK Dreamworks product, so they are very professional and experienced.

Currently however, hardware manufacturers do not have a compatability protocol, so they can do whatever they like. HKL is not the only DVD manufacturer to experience problems with PS2 and until everyone has received the new drivers, we will not the last!

Thank you for all your support. Please let me know how you get along.

Warm regards,

apparently you can get the updated drivers for free from Sony directly without having to buy the remote. you should give them a ring.

When my cousins 3rd PS2 broke he sent a polite email to Sony Ent Europe to complain.

Sony were very kind :eek:, sent the DVD driver updates on a PS2 memory card, and replacement system, & 2 PS2 games for his troubles:eek:

Even more impressive was the fact that the free games were not cheep-o-naff titles either :eek: :eek:

Needless to say he was very happy :D

Just remember if emailing Sony be polite.
